Subject: Great Illini Half Distance Triathlon
Hi everyone! I have searched high and low for information about this race. If anyone is signed up to do it this weekend, would you kindly post a link to your full race report?? Please? I have this race on my list for next year and would like to know all about it! I'd go over and watch this weekend, but I'll be in Cleveland. Thanks!!! Good luck if you're doing it!

I live 20 min away, have raced on the course 4 times (shorter distances though).

The course is flat as a pancake for both the bike and run. Not much scenery except for lots of corn and bean fields. The swim is in a lake - generally very calm.

Sounds like my normal training here in IN!! I've done Rev3 Cedar Point Half Rev, Muncie 70.3, I guess now I'd like to try a half that is lower key; a race that goes back to the "grass roots" of triathlon. Sounds like this must be just that. Do you remember if the swim is an in-water start? Thanks so much for your feedback TriGal!!

I have done the half twice and the full iron distance once.  It is an EXCELLENT race - the RD knows what he is doing.

Roads are rough - chip and seal - but it is truly like racing back in the day!

I remember the mile 3 water stop had these cute little Kiwanis guys wearing straw hats!

Yes, I'm curious too. I looked at the results online for this year's race and only 84 finished. Makes me wonder if there will even be a race next year.. Hard to break even with expenses with small of a turnout.

I heard there were issues with running out of water this year.  I talked to 2 racers and they said it was 97 when they started the run and they just didn't have enough water...more was on the way but they didn't want to wait so they DNF'd.  I asked them if they would do it again and they said definately, it was just one of those things that happens.

i did it a two years ago. It was my first half. That being said the wind was rough. I heard from others the the support was poor, not sure it seemed ok as I dont have alot to compare it to. Next year I am looking at muncie as I want to get into a bigger race.

The 2010 was my first ever half.  Wind was harsh, no shade on the run, but a very very well run race.  Support was great as far as I could see.  Sorry to hear about issues.  I have friends who did it this year.  I'll check with them.
