Subject: Securing bike over night in transition (wind in forecast)

Tomorrow we have a mandatory bike check in for Monday's race. The forecast is calling for wind on Sunday and Monday.

I was wondering if anyone has a good quick way to secure the bike to the rack so it doesn't blow around in the wind.

Thanks

Last race I did that had night before bike check in cancelled it due to high winds.  Maybe you'll get lucky and that will happen to you as well.

Hang it by the brake levers instead of the seat. This gives you three points of fixation;'both levers and the wheel on the ground. It should make it pretty solid. In the morning you can switch it to hanging by the seat.

I tried this at my last Tri and the space between the brake levels and the bars isn't big enough to fit in the rack bar. It's a Tri bike, I don't know if that matters. I'm going to bring some bungees and try that.

Of course if it's windy and others don't secure their bikes they are going to swing into mine.

Will it stay up on the kickstand?

Bummer you can't temporarily rack it by the horns, then switch it over in the morning.  Will there by anything that you can sandwich around the tire on the ground to help stabilize it?

I actually got the brake levers to fit on the rack bar. So I'm happy with that. I took off the aero disc cover on the back wheel, it's windy! And the forecast is still calling for wind for tomorrow.
