Total Time = 2h 25m 39s
Overall Rank = 72/995
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 15/116
Pre-race routine:

Up early, had a breakfast cookie and OJ, then off to the venue. Between the parking lot and transition, I ran into my friend Rob, who told me the race had miraculously been declared wetsuit legal. He took my gear and very nicely set up my transition spot as I ran back to the car, drove home and got my wetsuit, and hurried back. (Side note: I have an aerohammock water bottle holder up front, and when I arrived I found my friends had placed a banana in it. I was thereafter the subject of a few 'banana hammock' jokes. Thanks for the laughs guys.) When I finally arrived at transition, I found my front tire was flat. Thankfully, Rob and Doug (another great friend) were done setting up and were able to grab the wheel and get it to the bike shop guys for a quick fix. There was a giant staple in the wheel! Corey from Scheels, and Doug and Rob are officially my heroes. I was a little shook up and had fired off some of my adrenaline before transition had even closed. *Only* 75 minutes before my wave was supposed to go off!
Event warmup:

Not much. Waded around in the water.
Swim
  • 30m 16s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 51s / 100 yards
Comments:

I thought I had a very good swim, with better sighting an less contact than ever before. Turns out I hit my usual time. I have to start putting in some work on improving the swim, it's holding me back. A lesson or two along with a whole lot more time in the pool is in order.
What would you do differently?:

As above.
Transition 1
  • 03m 40s
What would you do differently?:

Need tri shoes that I can have pre-clipped in.
Bike
  • 1h 08m 54s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 21.64 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Bike continues to improve. Need to push it a little more, and work on hills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
Run
  • 41m 3s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 06m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt great, probably should have pushed harder the first two miles. Passed by no runners. That means my bike and swim are sub-par.
Post race
Warm down:

Watched Doug and Rob finish, we were all quite close together (Doug and I only 22 seconds apart, amazing after 51.5km of racing). So glad I've got good friends to share the racing experience with. Grabbed food and gear bag, then eventually back to transition via shuttle to clear out and head home. Back later in the day to watch the men pros' race with my family and Rob with his girls.

Event comments:

Love being a part of such a wonderful event.
