One of my sons is a heel striker:

and the other one is (halfway to becoming) a barefoot runner:

Is it too late?

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Get the belt immediately and fix that sh*&.

Unacceptable and a lashing for every heel strike and a walk through crushed glass for the barefoot hippie you are raising!

LOL!!!!!!

I'm obsessed with watching the foot strike of my children. They are 3 and 5 years old. Every night they pretend to be race horses and run laps around the backyard and never in shoes. Their gait is completely effortless, midfoot strike, short little strides. Perfect, I hope they never watch me run .

I'm impressed they are racing no matter what their foot strike looks like!

How ever they are running, they sure are cute doing it!

I have one that refuses to strike at all, and a heel striker.

Whoa! I added pictures but they were huge.

Look dude, that's pretty egregious. No shiny gummy star on the Dad card this week, that's for sure.

Are their seats too high, too?

The pics were great.  I love that your son was running apparently the wrong way, apparently before the race started.  And the umbrella hat thingy was fantastic.

The one shoe on-one shoe off technique is all the rage now.

Get with the times, dad!

Thank you for the tip & observations! Yes, pretty sure my son and his friends ran a 2k before the actual 2k at start, on the beach, down the road.. and my girl is quite the diva with her accessories. Laughing

How you play the next two years of their life is key if you expect to gravy train off your kids pro careers in triathlon. Another thing to worry about, make sure end up your same size so you can "borrow" their gear. If they don't turn pro, yes you are a failure for not blessing them with the right genetics and decent shoe(s).

My two girls run so differently, not sure where they learn to run but one is all arms while the other barely twitches her arms. Great fun to watch.

Have you done a relay with them yet?  Any swimmers in the crew or did you pass on your genetics to them ;-)  Great photos, Michael!  Looks like everyone (especially Dad) is having a blast!

Alas, they have their Dad's ability in the water.  One of them was repeatedly lapped by 'a swim team kid' in the swim.  Like Dad, they make up for it on the run. Wink

As for the cuteness comments, let's just say "thank goodness for Mom" 'cause they didn't get that from me...

Awesome group, and yes, you're doomed.  Get them in the pool and collect the royalty checks.

I'm confused where I stand as a dad since my son is a barefoot runner but I noticed in the 5k he ran he's a major heel striker.  Huh???

They will probably grow up resenting you for not teaching them proper form by age 3. I hope you're happy with yourself ruining two young lives. They should be placed in foster care with a triathlon coach, I just hope its not already to late.Tongue out

Your a great dad for getting them involved at such a young age. They look like two little studs that will dominate in the future. Great post.
