Just got out to test the legs and see what Saturday might bring.  I'm happy to report I was able to run 3 miles at race pace with no issues!  Feeling good that this won't be a complete disaster!

Steve - I'll try to remember 344 Summit, but if I fail at that and you happen to see Bob Ross running past, snap away!

Oh Jeez! - Bob Ross?!?! AWESOME! Have a great run!

Shoot. I missed Bob Ross and Adrian. Sorry guys! I got there JUST in time to see the race start, and I got a few photos of non-BT friends..... (and the guy seen below....)

Hope everyone had a good time! My hand were freezing after just being out there for 20 minutes watching everyone start!!

That's amazing!

Steve - I looked for you, but that part is so crowded with spectators still.   Climbingonzo and I were together and looking for you, so it's too bad!

Had a decent race out there. my knee for some reason was giving me issues after about mile 3 so had to slow down a little bit and finished at 1:49 which is a PB for me

Good job guys!

So, anyone else hurting today?  My right calf and left quad are burning.   The slant of Shephard Rd was really noticeable at the time and I think is the cause of my off balance pain.  Hope it goes away fast!

Nice job everyone!! Foggy, congrats on your first!! Emily, rest those legs today!

Being I had to miss running the race yesterday because of a class I agreed to teach, I got out this morning and ran my own half marathon with Henry along the river! Here he is before and after our run....

Got to admit that I was getting a touch frustrated with the first four miles or so. Maybe it was the size of the pace group, but I wasn't able to run a steady pace do to people cutting in front, slowing down or what ever else. Ended up moving ahead and found a nice 7:40+ pace for the rest of the way. Looked for Steve, but I can only assume I was dodging people as I passed you.

1st HM in the books at 1:41

Wow, my wife and her boyfriend ran with the 1:40 pace group, she was the lady from the Incredibles.  Probably ran right next to her the whole time!

I was all over the place myself, started with the 2:05 group, just about caught up to the 2:00 pace group, then got passed by the 2:05 group at mile 10ish.  Still finished about 10 minutes faster than my last (and only other) HM.

Good job guys!

Thanks. I've been hobbling around much more than I though. I wasn't sure how the race would turn out once I realized, in the starting chute, that I hadn't charged my Forerunner. I resorted to running by starting towards the fron of the 9:00/mi group and try to catch the 1:45 pace runner; all by RPE. Considering this was my first 1/2 Mary, I'm pleased with my 1:44:13 result. Now time for an Epsom salt bath the a quality stretch with the foam roller. Ouch.

I think the difference between the HIM and HM for my legs was the obvious one, my legs felt great this weekend up until about mile 10, whereas for the HIM my legs were shot at mile one!  I can't say enough how important it will be for future success at the HIM distance to be able to get off the bike with more energy.  My goal for my next HIM is to be able to comfortably run the 13.1 with walking only during the aid stations.

I think that's a great goal.   The hard part if figuring how to do that

And the lesson for a successful half marathon:  don't wear jeans!

I saw Steve at the beginning and wanted to yell "Hey Steve", but my lips were still numb at that point. Very cold start - probably a couple miles in before I felt my hands or feet.

I had a great first half though and so much fun. I appreciate all the people who ran in costume, sure made it fun to watch.

Sorry I didn't get to see Ms. Pink Crayon or Bob Ross - hope you guys had fun too.

SoberTriGuy - 2011-10-31 2:20 PM Looking good Crayolas!

Em's says "Tickle me pink!"

It's a special collector set of crayon colors

The funniest thing was that we got the best cheers from little kids.  You wouldn't believe how happy a kid can get seeing a full grown crayon running at them.

They are lucky they had you - in the background of your picture Freddy Kruger is actually holding a child - and looks to be taunting him with his knife fingers!
