Subject: Securing Tube in XLAB Carbon Wing

Just installed an XLAB carbon wing w/ 2 bottle cages.  Wondering how to secure the spare tube inside the wing (without buying a bag), as the included velcro strap is too big to secure the tube (looks like the strap was intended to hold a saddlebag).

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I just wrapped my CO2, levers and tube in electrical tape then taped it under my seat flush. Maybe you could tape it inside the wing?

for training only bag behind seat.  for racing, tape tube + co2 under seat.  be more aero.

^^ No reason you couldn't do that.  Just tape all the way around the wing.

But why not get the xlab bag (or see if an generic bag will work)?  You can also use the xlab bag w/o the x-wing like a regular saddle bag.  I take my xwing off for races and just use the bag on the seat, aero drink, and downtube cage.  In training I have front drink and xlab (no downtube cage as my calfs always rub on them).

skip the bag, keep the rear clean, jam the tube under the seat with co2.  be more aero.  or race without tube at all.

Whatever you go with be it taped under the saddle or a bag, keep it simple and the same as you train when you race. Don't want anything new on race day.

I have a tacx storage bottle and a SKS cagebox. Fits into the waterbottle cage.

The SKS bottle is about the height of a large water bottle. I put my spare tubie, Pitstop, tire lever, and tool in there. The Tacx bottle will fit everything above except the pitstop. I don't use the tops/cover. I have a water bottle on my aero bar, one in the rear, and the container in the second rear. Use this setup for HIM or longer. Olympic, only carry Pitstop. No bags.

Both available on Amazon.

I just secure two tubes with the straps and don't worry about the slack. Never had a problem during the race and have held in place while transporting the bike on top of my car. Keep the tire lever in my stem bag.
