Pre-race routine:

Drove down from Long Beach, got checked in and suited up. Swam out past the waves and back in for a warmup.
Swim
  • 1h 18m
  • 4224 yards
  • 01m 51s / 100 yards
Comments:

I had a pretty great swim for having only swum 2100yards since CdA this year. Decided to just cruise and have a good time. Water was kind of dark and nasty, and the current against us was noticeable, but I felt good. Not too many people in the race, so there was no crowding or much contact. Once we turned into the harbor for the last third of the race, the outgoing tide made things difficult but I just kept on trucking. Swam up to the ramp, stood up and ran across the mat.
Post race
Warm down:

Got showered, changed, and ate a funnel cake.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training the last few months.

Event comments:

This was the first year of the race, but they did a great job. Lots of volunteers and the best finishers "medal" ever.
