Overall Rank = 181/617
Age Group = Male 35/39
Age Group Rank = 15/68
Pre-race routine:

I set up transition pretty fast. Talked to Jason, Mikey, Jackie and other peeps in transition. My wife was with me after that and then I got in line on the pontoon.
Swim
  • 31m 48s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

It was my crappiest swim ever. Ran out of breath almost immediately and finally started getting into a rythm on the last 500M. Ten minutes and ten seconds slower than my PR with a wetsuit. Maybe completely forgetting about the pool has something to do with it.
My last swim prior to this one? Tri Waco race (and that was the first one in a while too). Back in the pool on Tuesday.
What would you do differently?:

I will not spend 70 days out of the water, I will not spend 70 days out of the water, I will not spend 70 days out of the water, I will not spend 70 days out of the water, I will not spend 70 days out of the water, I will not spend 70 days out of the water, I will not spend 70 days out of the water, I will not spend 70 days out of the water, I will not spend 70 days out of the water, I will not spend 70 days out of the water...
Transition 1
  • 03m 6s
Comments:

THe transition itself was pretty decent, but the fact that the first climb is over half a mile long was not good to get up to speed so I could slip into my bike shoes. Result: climbed on top of my bike shoes for a long time before I could get some speed.
What would you do differently?:

Run WITH shoes on this one.
Bike
  • 1h 12m
  • 24.85 miles
  • 20.71 mile/hr
Comments:

Went hard, but still not even close to my PRs. I thought the course was too windy, too many rolling hills.
What would you do differently?:

Train more, lose weight.
Transition 2
  • 01m 39s
Comments:

Fast, uneventful T2.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 46m 43s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

The run was good for my current fitness level, I even thought about not doing the race, thank God I did what I did.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, well paced and executed. Couldn't ask for more at this horrible level of fitness.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank water and walked around a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Ten weeks without swimming
