How do we react when we find we find we are missing a credit card or cell phone? I think we should search after Christ at Christmas time in the same way if we find He has gone missing from the party.

I almost had a traffic accident this morning ... Mississauga transit gave me the shock of the season ... their busses are proudly telling people "Merry Christmas" add to that being wished a Merry Christmas by staff members at WestJet I find myself starting to believe that there is defo a light at the end of the tunnel :-)

cbrave - 2011-10-03 12:27 PM Maybe a bit long but I really like Psalm 121 - especially when climbing hills. "I lift up my eyes to the mountains -- where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth"

I love this one.  Can't wait until next year to use for my climbs.

Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. 1 Peter 4:12

That's a great one!

This one's a little wordy, but the sentiment get's my blood up.  Having taken 18 hours of Bible in college, I know I've read this before, but it didn't hit me until I saw the movie "Secretariat":

Job 39: 19-24

19 “Do you give the horse its strength or clothe its neck with a flowing mane?
20 Do you make it leap like a locust, striking terror with its proud snorting?
21 It paws fiercely, rejoicing in its strength, and charges into the fray.
22 It laughs at fear, afraid of nothing; it does not shy away from the sword.
23 The quiver rattles against its side, along with the flashing spear and lance.
24 In frenzied excitement it eats up the ground; it cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds."

I'm planning on saying it to myself before my next races and then moving on to your's when things get tough.

I like Hebrews 12:1-2.  Look to Jesus and endure the race.  I remind myself that He did not give up on His race to the cross.  I will not give up on Him.

Merry Christmas!

Great to see the inspirational verses everyone relies on.  My favorites have already been mentioned but to list them:

Isaiah 40:31

Philippians 4:13

Hebrews 12:1

I also started a multi-sport ministry this past summer.  It is called "The Second Wind".  To connect walkers, runners, cyclists, swimmers and triathletes by using the endurance platform in order to share the Gospel and make disciples of all nations.  The name came about as we all know during endurance events we sometimes get that extra energy i.e. our "Second Wind".  The same is true when we come to know Christ.  Old things have past and you become new...you get your "Second Wind".

Feel free to check out our site at http://thesecondwind.net/.

We have shirts with the logo you will see on the website on the front and Isaiah 40:31 on the back of the shirts.

It's great to meet you all!  I love this thread and am encouraged

How about I Cor 6:19-20 ?   "...your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God, 20 he bought you for a price. So use your bodies for God's glory"

What a great thread! It is great to see so many brothers and sisters in Christ in triathlon. Am I allowed to use this thread to be guilt free when I miss church to race?
