Just curious - I haven't seen anything about a broadcast schedule for this (even on delayed basis). There's usually some 90-minute summary that gets put together and aired but everything on Universal are PAST races and nothing about next weekend's race.

Anybody heard?

NBC does their replay (one hour, I think...) in December.  Not sure about Universal Sports (I have the Dish, so I don't get it Frown)

The Ironman Live stream is usually wire to wire and, while a bit "backporch video-ish" as the day goes on and drink cups and sandwich wrappers pile up on the commentators' desk, it is a great resource.

Here is the link, it will likely feature a live video link on race day based on previous coverage:

Yeah, the only way to see it next weekend if you're not there is via Ironman Live online.  Otherwise, you have to wait for the NBC edited Broadcast that airs yearly in December.

If you guys haven't seen the live stream I definately recommend it. You're right there as the action unfolds- real time. It is super cool.

You can try plugging in your computer to the usb slot on your dvr and watch it at your leisure if you have 9 hours of free space on your dvr.

X2, I ended up pulling an all nighter last year watching, worth it.

Do they charge to use ironmanlive to watch? It will be great motivation to watch before I head out for a ride.

I agree.  It pretty awesome watching that race unfold.  Especially down the stretch.  Macca put that surge on in the beginning of the run and then right after him Raelert on his heals.  When he made the catch it was pretty exciting listening to the announcers reaction in real time.   The production video is cool too but it's a little different and you already know what happens....and then there are the touchy feely stuff obviously that you either are into or not.

x2 on that.  The camera followed Christ Lieto on his bike last year; best part was listening to the commentators not laugh as they explain what he was doing in the most innocent way possible!

I did this last year and absolutely loved that it was up to the minute - even though it means I'll have to pull an all nighter, I'm planning on watching the whole thing again this year!

All in all they do a pretty good job on IMLive. I watched it last year and that was one of the most dramatic, exciting and captivating sporting events I've ever seen watching Macca take the win.

I run an HDMI cable from my laptop to the TV.

Watching the leaders come in around 9 hours is great - but when the age groupers start rolling in over the last couple of hours up to midnight Hawaii time it is awesome - I recommend pulling an all nighter or setting those alarms real early in the morning to catch the end.

I can't remember: Does the coverage run on standard flash or does it use some proprietary streaming software?  I was thinking of using my PS3's web browser to watch it on my big screen TV and PS3 runs flash just fine but not other types like silverlight....

Can anyone confirm if the HDMI from laptop to DVR works? I'd love to watch but have to work so if i can record it on dvr that would be outstanding.

According to http://ironmanworldchampionship.com/ the race starts in just over 3days 6 hours from the time of this post.  That puts it at midnight central time.

When the pre race coverage starts etc, I'm not sure.

Hmm you know these Iron distance folks spend too much time on the course, I can't stay up that long watching them, it is exhausting.

Seriously though, not sure if I'll pull an all nighter, or just get up in time to see the pro's run, then watch the AGers trickle in the rest of the day.

ETA:Sarcasm font and spelling.

I tried watching it on my PS3 last year and it didn't work.  I believe it was something like silverlight that was the problem.

Not midnight, afternoon.  Hawaii is 6 hours back of NY.  It puts my viewing time just before midnight.

Ahh, ok I see my mistake.  I assumed that the countdown clock on http://ironmanworldchampionship.com/ with days / hours / minutes etc would actually be counting down to the race start.

But a quick glance at the page code it appears they have it counting down to midnight and it uses local time of the browser.  You would think that the WTC would have enough timezone issues to know better.

Sorry for the confusion.
