Subject: Brooks Pure Project

Hit a local running specialty store over the weekend to try out the new Brooks Pure Project line of shoes.

Pure Connect - too narrow and excessively high arch support for my flat feet. They hurt just having them on my feet.

Pure Flow - similar fit to the Saucony Kinvara 2. Felt great on the treadmill at all speeds, and I would bet that there's no break-in required. It takes 25+ somewhat painful miles for the Kinvara 2 to mold around my foot. I recently purchased another couple pairs of Kinvara 2, but I will probably switch to the Flow.

Pure Cadence - didn't bother with the guidance version. I have the Saucony Mirage which is along the same lines. The Mirage works fine, but I'm not thrilled running in them.

Pure Grit - I bought these to go along with my Inov-8 trail shoes. I like the Inov-8 shoes for loose, soft, and muddy terrain, but the lugs start to hurt on hardpacked terrain and road sections. Haven't test driven the Grit yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Ha! Did the same thing. Wound up with the cadence. Was able to go sockless right out of the box.

Exact same  thoughts about the Connect and the arch.

Ended up getting the Flow and have already put 20mi on them.  So far so good, they are a little lighter then the Brooks Launch but feel they have better mid-sole support. Very comfortable.

Not sure if I can tell a difference with the split toe thingy?

I normally run in the Brooks Trance, so I bought a pair of the Pure Cadence.  I ran in them for the first time today, and I really love them.

Split toe seems pointless as well as the curved heel. If you run midfoot, what's the point? My Kinvaras will probably last through the winter. Hopefully, Brooks will introduce some new colors in the spring. I'm looking forward to getting some Flows.

But that is a meaningful "if". I've come out of the closet as a heel striker. Tried to do pose and newton for 6 months. Realized thta I was wearing out the heel tread even though the shoes had big ol lugs on them.

Has anyone else tried the Pure series out?

My Pure Flows came in today and I took them out for a run. I'm already looking forward to my run tomorrow, this may also be that I've been out for a long time. They were similar to the Kinvaras, IMO much more comfortable and seems to have a little more support.
