Subject: bike size - post your stats (height, build, brand, bike size)

I'm still in the beginning stages of doing my research for buying a tri bike (new entry level or used 2nd level).  I understand that bike size depends on both your individual sizing as well as the brand of bike.  Informally, I'd like to get an idea of what you guys have just as a starting point:

height (your height)
weight (your weight)
build (anything abnormal?  very long legs, short torso?  or normal?)
brand (your bike's brand)
bike size (52, 54, 56, etc)

You should add inseam as height doesn't really mean anything w/o inseam

5'8"

160

30" inseam - short legs

Felt B16 - 52cm

Completely irrelevant information as you're still missing core strength, flexibilty, external factors such as terrain, types of races, distances, etc.... despire that, here's my data:

5'9"
160lbs
33" inseam
Long femurs

female

5' 9.5", give or take a mm.

135 lbs.

Plenty of abnormal, but  none affecting my bike sizing ;-)  My true inseam is 34.5 inches, so I am, as they say, all legs...tiny torso.

My previous tri bike was a Trek Hilo, size 54. I currently ride a specialized transition (2008), in a Medium. My Trek 2300 was a 54; my fuji track is a 54. My GF 29" is a 17.5, as is my 26" schwinn. My Giant TCR Comp is a Medium.

I have been known to ride anywhere from a 51 to a 55, depending on the bike.

height: 6' 4"

weight: 180 lbs

build: 34" inseam

brand: Cervelo-P2C   bike size: 61CM

brand: Felt-F80  bike size: 63CM

And just to show how much each bike fit can vary, I'm:

6'2"
34" inseam (same as above)
Cervelo P4 56cm

I agree with audiojan that these examples probably won't be very relevant.

height 5'11

weight - non of your business

build - curvy

Wait - is this a dating site?

inseam 34"

Cannondale slice 5- 58"

I think slices are fairly short in the top tube and thus tend to fit women a little better.

height (your height): 6'
weight (your weight): 250 lbs currently
build (anything abnormal?  very long legs, short torso?  or normal?): slightly long torso
brand (your bike's brand): Bianchi
bike size (52, 54, 56, etc): I think my bike is 56.  58 is probably "better" based on my inseam though.

Yep, I could go with a 54 very easily, but I'm rather small (at 150-155 lbs) and I felt very comfortable on the 51 both from a size and fit perspective, not to mention less weight to carry up the hills.   I wasn't F.I.S.T. fitted though (didn't really know about much when I bought the bike 2-3 years ago), so that is what I will do at my next bike purchase, as maybe this had something to do with how I felt on the 51 vs 54.

Quite possible that this is the right fit... and a good reason why flexibility and core strength are such important parameters in a bike fit... if very flexible and being able to stay in that position (core strength), then yes, a very low front end would often require going to a frame size that at first glans would be small.
