I would issue tickets to everyone who thinks that their driveway parking area includes the side walk AND the street portion that would be the width of the parking lane.   Just park on the street if your driveway is full!

This is apparently not an issue in Reno, so if you are jogging on the side walk, you have to go around the car and out onto the street.

x2   that is very annoying and illegal per our city ordinance

And what about the car pool lanes...it doesn't mean that you can go 20 or 30 over the limit, it just means you have 2 or more people in the vehicle.

I have had drivers behind me practically up my donkey because I was going the speed limit in the HOV lane.

And we have freeways out here where the speed limit is already 75.  How fast do you need or want to go anyway?

Honestly I dont think people care how fast they're going as long as they're going faster than the guy next to them. Everybody wants to feel like Mario Andretti out there on the road. A few times I found myself just flying along, happily passing people left and right and then looking down and realizing I was doing 80 or 90. Again, not only is that illegal, it's dangerous.

If I were an officer of traffic laws here, I wouldn't exist, so I am glad I'm not.

We do have traffic laws and there are cops for traffic on the street, but neither can really be reliably found or functional. For example, there's no booklet to read or website to look at for laws, and they are not enforced. There's a general law of the jungle that gets followed to some extent or traffic simply couldn't exist either.

If I could change two things here, it would be that ALL riders must wear helmets (most tiny babies and children don't have them and they are carried in twos and threes on motorcycles).

And that traffic should generally go in a direction. Cars sometimes, but motorcycles all the time go any direction they please--with traffic, against traffic, horizontally across, diagonally, on sidewalks, etc.

More like Matt Kenseth since his hometown is only 20 min. or so from me.

yes, the law is the law, but is it really wise to be on the highway going 5-10+ mph slower than the rest of traffic? in houston, if you aren't going 70+ on the highways, prepare to be run over. against the law? yes. reality? yes. i have seen more near accidents because of the people that don't keep with traffic and go -50mph in a 65mph.

specific example: just a few days ago i was on a highway and traveling over a hill at about posted speed limit in the left lane. i watched about three cars in front of me, myself, and a few cars behind me have to slam on their brakes because just over the hill was a car in the left lane was going 45mph. i am not exaggerating. it was an incredibly dangerous situation even for the people "following the law" traveling under the 65mph speed limit.

Perfect.  I recommend listening without the narration.  The visuals say it all.

I would ticket the drivers who allow their pets to ride in their laps while driving. I would think this would be a huge distraction. If not already illegal it should be in my opinion.

It's attitudes like yours that creates the reality you cite.

If you can't see over the hill, you're not supposed to be driving at a speed from which you cannot reasonably stop.

What if there's an accident just over the crest of the hill?   And that car in the left lane is slowing down and moving over to avoid the accident/emergency vehicle ( as is the law in most states ).

The vehicle creating the danger there is *you*.
