We have had some awesome weather, mid-teens to lower 20's with some nice wind. I have save a mint on gas by commuting to work and back on foot in addition to my morning training runs. I have a Snowshoe 5K in 2 weeks so the extra time walking outside has helped with dealing with the cold, wind, and snow.

The snow is a falling the snow is a falling.

Darren I am going to make a run at you this week - just saying!!!!

errrrrr, okay. I have had a good couple days here and tomorrow looks promising. Next week wouldn't be so bad if I got my workouts in early but usually warms up past 1C in the afternoon. Maybe some late night runs will be in order.

COLD here again. Missed out on running in the snow Friday but hit the bitter cold this morning. Not sure if I'll venture out on the bike Sunday yet... the cold is really biting my nose lately.

Anybody find a breathable face mask type thing that DOESN'T fog glasses and get all wet around the mouth from breathing?!?!?!? UGH! Ran without my glasses today and could not see more than 10 yards...well, at least not details LOL

Did a mammoth 37 miler yesterday. First 18 miles the high was 1 degree. I don't think it make it past 8 yesterday. Wind chill warnings of 20 to 25 below. Took 8 hours 22 mins. I brought a new guy with me and he amazed himself with what he could do. My wife wasn't too happy though, but this is what I do and I do it well. Peace out. .....

Did some high volume on the snowshoes last week in addition to my usual comute to and from work on foot in some truely great, crappy weather. Another week like that and I will be looking real good.

Nice run! I was trying to find ways to stay out of that wind.

After last years 50K and a January marathon I started looking for a fall marathon, my wife said she thought I was going to take a year off. How do you take a year off? I think I would go crazy if I couldn't run, maybe this summer I will just do a 6 hour run on my own.

Hi. I only take a few weeks at a time off, when my body says I am overreaching. I thought it was crazy to take the winter off and start again in the spring. If you want to make the physiological gains there has to be consistency. I did that long run once before in about 7 hrs 45 mins. It was crappy weather that time too last year. I wont ever take a year off, just keep modifying my schedule with the proper amount of recovery. Sooner or later my arthritic knees will fail but I hope to have an "official" 50 and 100 miler in by then. Then I will switch to biking. I don't like it but I will go stir crazy otherwise. As long as you Balance Running with Family, you shouldn't have to take a year off. If there is conflict then a schedule change is in order. Wow. I am babbling on this morning. lol. Before I ever ran an"official" 50k, I had done 3 already. Out there on your own for over 5-6 hours builds mental strength you don't get racing. There isnt any cheering section, just you and wind and trees. It is all very Zen like. The primal essence of running. Love it.

You guys are killing me with all these points you are racking up.  I don't ever remember a challenge having this many points between top 5 participants.  Keep up the great work and there are things called rest days you know!!!!

Ha, you aren't fooling me into taking a break. I know you probably have some mad biking planned for March. I remember how things went down last year.

As long as it stays like it is, I'm in good shape. Lost of low 20's and high winds make for some big points. That and my new job is closer to home so I am banking points by walking/jogging to and from work 4 days a week. Should be a fun finish for all.

Had a good week here, temps are starting to warm some but the winds and snow have been steady. This coming week looks colder.
