Elite 3779 Ontario | Subject: Honey, it followed me home...honest. Went to the Toronto Fall Bike show on the weekend, with every intention of just looking, perhaps getting a new jersey or some tires, even brought my 6yr old so I wouldn't stop and look at anything for too long. Instead I wound up buying a 2011 Speed Concept 7.2. Fell in love with it the moment I saw it (and it's heavily discounted price). Picture does not do it justice. Bringing the 6yr old was a good attempt to avoid temptation! Congrats though. I know you'll enjoy that bike, but I'm biased. I have the very same 2011 model and it's been a blast. Brad |

Pretty crowded there anyway There were some amazing deals to be had. We waited in a 1/2km line just to get in the door when it opened. But I got the bike for $2K which I simply couldn't pass on - even though I tried (admittedly not very hard, but I did sort of kind of try to talk myself out of it). |

Veteran 203 Traveling | Subject: RE: Honey, it followed me home...honest. I was hoping to see a dog as well. But seriously, my girlfriend buys things without telling me and if I want to buy a bike I will its that simple. If I buy a bike that I cannot afford then shame on me for scheming to get it. But why must we play into the silly husband card. Why do we have to play stupid and senseless and begging for permission. If you cannot afford it then all the permission tricks and other schemes are just a sham. Make the money and buy it. Don't make the money don't buy it. This applies to both women and men equally. I trust the OP can afford the bike and while non-triathletes cannot understand the things we spend money on so be it, I don't understand why others buy the things they buy. Sorry for the rant... |

Yeah, you should, as it was full of "Humour"... ...Anyway, should I ask my wife if I can crack a joke or should I just do it and see if she finds out ??? |

Didn't see this thread derailing, but off it goes. To answer your question/rant - it's called marriage. I won a performance award at work = the money I used to buy the bike, without it there would not have been a bike. BUT, my finances are not mine alone, they are also my wife's - doesn't really matter who made the money, it's our money, and if one of us plans to make a big purchase then we should consult with each other. For the record - as soon as I saw the bike and it's price I called her... |

My wife and I have been married for 17 years, we don't share a single bank account. We lived together before we were married and split the bills, it worked fine so we kept it up. It helps if you both make nearly the same yearly salary, bvut you can make adjustments here and there. I have no idea what she spends her money on, other then her share of the household bills, and I couldn't imagine having to discuss a personal purchase with her. The only thing that ever requires a discussion about money is splitting the costs of family vacations. We've never had a single argument over money, I can't imagine we ever will. |
