Just seeing if anyone is doing the full or half.  I'm signed up for the full.  Hoping to get a PR.  I did 3:50 last year and am hoping to improve my time.  Would love to BQ.  Need to get better than 3:45. I'm in the F40-44.  Always a little nervous about the last 10k of the marathon.  It's so true that the last 10k makes or breaks you.  Last year, it was an experience.  My legs and feet were hurting so much.  Hope to run it smart and have fun.  The monumental was a great experience and am looking forward to it again.

Iam most likely going to do the full too.  A couple of weeks ago I ran the Columbus marathon and came 20 seconds from a BQ for my AG...M40-44.  I hope I have the ability to get a little faster for next weekend.  I ran a 16 miler today as my last long run and preparation for that race.  I also think the week ahead should be enough to fully recover and be ready to race.

This will be my 3rd marathon overall and hopefully my fastest.  BUT,  I still need to register.  I am planning on seeing how my legs feel tomorrow and then register.

What is the course like?  I hear it is fast and flat, which will be to my advantage.  I am hooping it is flatter than Columbus at least.  Cbus is considered flat and when compared to the Marine Corps marathon last year both of these races are pretty flat.

Dirk, the course is flat.  There is a small hill (incline) around the Butler area, but really everything else is flat.  Good luck.  Unfortunately, I've been having asthma issues.  I'm trying to sort this out before next week.  BQ is looking difficult, but we'll see, ya never know.  Good luck!

It's official I am registered as of last night.  I have been waiting to go for it because I wanted to make sure I had my legs again after the last one 2 weeks ago.  I should be alright after a good 43 miles running last week.  I don't need a lot of recovery normally, but I can't say for certain after a race pace marathon and going for another 3 weeks later.

Hey Ron, maybe I'll see you there.

Hope fully the asthma calms down and you'll meet your goal.

Hopefully they will get some bib numbers up for us before the race.  If so I'll plan on posting mine.

I'll be running the half, which will be my second. My first was the 500 Festival Mini earlier this year. My goal was to be under 2 hours and I just missed it. After a summer of focusing on sprint distances, I was surprised how much faster I am at longer distances this fall. I should easilly break 2 hours this time but I'm not sure by how much. My goal is 1:55 and I'll speed up if I'm feeling strong 3 or so miles in. I'm looking forward to signifiantly less traffic than the 500 Festival - there were too many people and not enough road in that race!

I'm running the half, and looking forward to it! It's a great course for the folks who are trying to BQ. Weather is looking good so far, too. Good luck, everyone!

I got my bib number for the full 390.

I also go t a room at the Hyatt Regency, 3 blocks away from the start line, for $80 + tax.  I think that was pretty amazing myself, possibly as amazing as if I actually Boston Qualify this time.  (We got the room on Hotwire.)

that's a great deal Dirk.  I'm driving in the morning should get there around 7.  I'm going to the expo this morning, I'll look for you Sat. I know you can do it, I think this course is a little easier.  I'm just trying to break that 1:30 mark for the half, if I do it great if not no big deal.

Congrats on finishing everyone!

I made my goal........by the skin of my teeth.  I needed to hit 3:15:00 to Boston qualify and I finished at 3:14:53, a mere 7 seconds to spare.  The race was brutal on me.  So brutal that I collapsed at the finish line.

I hope to have a RR up later on tonight or tomorrow.

Congrats on the BQ Dirk!!!!  I did not fare so well.  Did it in 4:00 flat.  Oh well, I gave it all I had and my body just wouldn't let me go any faster.  The last 7 miles was bad...very bad.  I'm using this experience to do things a little different in training, such as more run miles and strength work.  Of course the asthma didn't help things, but it wasn't too bad.  Glad I did it anyway and I did finish, sooo time to heal and get back to training.

Congratulations, Dirk!! That is an awesome time! Did you run with the 3:15 pace group? I was doing the half, but ran with the 3:15 pace group for a little while. They were well ahead of pace and I wondered if that caused them problems later in the race.

cggale - I'm sorry your race didn't go as planned, but you have a great attitude about it. There will be other races!

I ran a solid PR, and had a blast. Fun race!

I did run with the 3:15:00 group and yes it did cause problems for the group as a whole.  What were you wearing?  I'll might remember you if you remind me what you were wearing.  I was wearing the red and grey Nike long sleeve with arm warmers and leg warmers and a lime green visor. (I'll probably post a pic in my race report later.)

The pace group was really hot for almost the whole race.  I ended up letting them go around mile 14 because I was afraid of blowing up, and after looking at the data from my Garmin, I would most definitely blown up.  I started dropping time at mile 16 (intentionally) and then by mile 20 unintentionally.  Had I needed to go another mile I would not have been able to do so without stopping and stretching my calves.  When we turned south onto Capitol my calves start to have some severe rebellion and they were just starting to seize at the finish.

I'll have a race report up later.

Dirk, I read your RR - awesome job! Every time I've run with a pace group they've gone out too fast. Such a bummer that it burned some people later in the race. I wasn't right in the pack, but ran near the group for a couple of miles, probably miles 3-4ish. I was wearing a bluish-gray top and pink headband. Congrats again on the BQ!
