I'm using my tri for key workouts just to train on what I race.  For easier rides I use the roadie.

My tri bike is my dedicated trainer bike year round.

Outside (which I don't do in the winter) is road and MTBs only.

I put my tri bike on the trainer and ride the roadie as long in the Fall and as early in the Spring as I can in MN.

Tri bike on trainer because I am training for triathlon. I almost never put the roadie on the trainer but do ride it outdoors when riding with others, or when conditions are favorable to aerobars.

It's not a particularly important choice.  Ride the one you enjoy, is most convenient, etc.  Just ride.

Either will work. Most people use the tri bike on the trainer because they tend to use the road bike more outdoors during the winter. As long as you ride, either will get you fit, unless you have an early race in the season, then use the bike you'll race with.

After using my roady on the trainer all last year I regretted it. I'm one to obsess over numbers. So when I got to my tri bike and can't put out the power numbers I do on the roady, it gets me mentally frustrated. I've bought a seperate tri bike this season and set it up identical to my tri bike I'll be racing and have it on my trainer. I plan on tweaking the position and trying things and getting used to putting out power in that position so I don't have the same problem this year, and hopefully, be able to stay aero longer on the tt bike in races.

I use my winter road bike because winter here means rain and I'm too lazy to cleaning my race bike that much. I also ride indoors at the velodrome twice a week in the winter, so I ride my track bike too.

Just ride.

I use my tri bike for the entire winter. It takes time getting used to the position and I feel much more comfortable and efficient in the spring if I spend the time on the tri bike. The roadie take me two rides in the spring and I feel right at home again
