I received an email from Shandra Wrinkle about next year's tris. This past year she and her organization, Fins, Wheels, Feet, sponsored a sprint tri in Centreville (Virginia Run). Next year they will host the Virginia Run sprint again, as well as, a new Oly in Montclair, Virginia. I think this will be the only other Oly in Northern Virginia, with Reston being the other. The Virginia Run event this past year was well run and organized and worth doing again. This is an excellent race for a first event.

Here is a link to their web page:

http://www.finswheelsfeet.com/

So that will give me at least three tris for next year. These two and Eagleman.

I've attached some of the text from her email

LJ and I received approval this month to direct a new Olympic distance
triathlon event in Montclair! Montclair is a beautiful community
located in Prince William County only a few miles off of Rt. 95
(Dumfries/Manassas exit) and is located right off the Prince William County Prkwy.

The event is planned to consist of an awesome 1 mile lake swim in
beautiful Lake Montclair, a 24 mile bike course (three 8 mile loops), and a
scenic 10k run! The event will most likely be open to 500-600
competitors and we expect registration to open in mid January along with the
Virginia Run Sprint Tri!

Save these dates on your calendars because the "Lake Montclair
Triathlon" is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 25, 2006, and the
"Virginia Run Sprint Tri" will be taking place on Sunday, May 14, 2006!

"Fins Wheels Feet" is also in the process of turning into a non-profit
organization! We're working on creating a new web-site and changing our
name to "Fins Wheels Feet Racing, Inc." Please continue checking
"www.finswheelsfeet.com" for all race updates and once we get the new site up
and running we will have a link to it from "www.finswheelsfeet.com"

Shandra and LJ put on a fantastic race this year and the Lake Montclair one should be even better. That will make a terrific venue and I bet they'll have an amazing race. By the way, Go Hokies. Ken

I'm in for the C'ville tri too - been looking for a local coed one to do w/my training partner - I'm already in for the Columbia IronGirl - I told him we could probably put a wig on him to do that one together, but I think the hairy legs might give it away.

Seriously, thank you for posting this - the other local one we were looking at was going to be the WorldGate Sprint out in Herndon, and that was looking to be April or very early May - for whatever reason I feel a little better with a mid-May date than something in April...

New info on Virginia Run

Dear "Virginia Run Sprint Triathlon" participants,

Hello! LJ and I hope you are all doing well and are looking forward to
the holidays!

We also wanted to pass on some exciting news that registration for the
2006 "Virginia Run Sprint Triathlon" and "Lake Montclair Triathlon"
will open on Wednesday, January 4th 2006! Registration will again take
place this year through Active.com And like last year, you will need to
enter your estimated 250 meter pool time for VA Run, or your estimated 1
mile time for "Lake Montclair."

We are expecting both events to sell out very quickly this year, so we
highly recommend registering early to guarantee your slots!

I've just updated the "Fins Wheels Feet Racing" web-site where some new
information has been posted: www.finswheelsfeet.com

And if you're looking to learn some new tips on your triathlon training
or have a friend/family member that will be training for their first
triathlon next year, LJ and I are putting on two beginner 1-day triathlon
clinics at Lifetime Fitness on January 22nd and March 12th, 2006. And
we're also doing a new intermediate/advanced 1-day triathlon clinic on
February 26th, 2006! Visit www.finswheelsfeet.com for more info.

We'll also be looking for some great volunteers to help us on both race
days! If you're interesting in volunteering for either event or have
friends/family that might be interested, please e-mail LJ at:
[email protected]

Please let me know if you have any questions (e-mail me at:
[email protected]), and we wish you all a wonderful holiday
season!

All the best,

Shandra and LJ
