I ran over a bolt while riding this morning. I know. I know. You're suppose to avoid debris. I didn't see it until late. I did miss it with the front but clipped the back on it. Anyway, now there is an 1/8" slit in the tire. Should I replace it? If not, when do you replace tires? Thanks.

Ya I'd replace that. Probably not a good thing to have a gash in your tire. IT is the tire not the tube right? Usually you should replace tire every couple thousand or so miles. Depends on the quality.

If your budget will allow then replace it.  Otherwise you can repair a tire with shoegoo.  ShoeGoo is a black rubber adhesive goop.  There are other rubber repair products that may do the trick.  Problem with cuts and holes in tires is they easily pick up debris then blow the tube.

Thanks guys. Yes, it's the tire. I have Specialized Pros on the bike. I just got them this spring. I think I have only 700 miles on them. I will replace it.
