Yeah call yourself you want.

I called myself a triathlete when speaking with a doctor and a podiatrist, however I don't plan on calling myself one in the near future as I am not planning on doing any triathlons in the near future.

I haven't really had "the occasion to do so- it has come up that I "do" triathlons...
my son recently had to put together a collage for his yearbook- of family friends etc w-whatever was of his choice .....his picture of his "mom" was a woman I see in the mirror every morning- and she was wearing a trisuit and on a bike grinning like a ...a.... triathlete .... made me smile.

My personnal opinion , who cares? The lonely person I try to impress is myself .What other people think I could care less.

That is soo sweet. Last year when my son was in 5th grade they had to do a newspaper and one of the sections was My Hero. He wrote how I trained all the time and did races and that I was his hero and a triathlete. Made my day, year and Heck century for that matter.

Well Stu... Tell him to stick it.
If you put the time in, you're a triathlete.

I'm not worthy of the title yet... Maybe after 4 straight months of training I'll dub myself a "beginner" triathlete. But I wouldn't say that in most crowds.

Hold up ... should that read *only* person OR *lonely* person? Are you trying to tell us something? *grin*

Funny stuff.

Man, when I finish my first, I plan to call myself a "triathlete" to anyone that will listen. Hell, I will probably even get t-shirts printed.

I will have no problem calling myself a triathlete - I think my blood, sweat and bruises will have earned the right.

I sort of think of it like this... If I'm actively training and I'm planning to race in an upcoming season.... then I'm a triathlete. If I have not raced in a year... and am not training for a specific event... even just 1 race... then I'm no longer a triathlete. Then, I've done some triathlons.

I think it's the combination training/racing aspect that makes a person a "triathlete".

I don't go out of my way to call myself anything, quite honestly... verbally... I do have a license plate holder that says "Triathlete" and I will retire it when/if I stop racing.
