OK folks, here it is ....I know we are all planning our race skeds for next year, so it is not to early to start planning a BT gathering/race.  I did this race last year and it was a blast.  And this year, I am moving home just prior to the race, so now we have a gathering place for the festivities as well.  December 1st is the opening of registration.  Not to mention that the race coincides with all the Memphis in May celebrations, so it is a great time of year to visit the city with lots of things to do, including the World Championship BBQ cook-off that is held on the banks of the Mississippi.  Good food, cold beverages, great Music, Beale Street.......too much fun.

Date:  May 21st, 2006.

Be sure to reserve your room/floor space at the Casa de Cavu at your earliest convenience!

Where's the link to this "Casa de Cavu"?  I'm particularly interested in checking out the amenities, such as room service, swimming and health club facilities, concierge, limo shuttle to the airport, complimentary breakfast buffet. Is this a five-star establishment?

Does this race sell out? I'd think about going, but don't want to register now.

I have a RED bike, what is the reservation/cancellation policy at Casa de Cavu?

It does sell out, but last year it was about a month or two out...not like St. A's or anything like that.  You have time.

All Casa de Cavu needs is a headcount.  First come first serve on the rooms!  And hot tri-women with RED bikes get higher rankings on the list. (Sorry bear!)

Edited to add:  However, I do have one stipulation for you (Haley)....absolutely at no point in your stay will the host be required to do any Jager.  Sorry, but it's the rules!!

1. Ok, good. I'll wait until Spring to decide, want to see my living/work situation before I plan more trips; and to see how it fits into my LP training plan.
2. Sorry bear.
3. But I was going to bring Jager as a housewarming/letting us stay gift! Alright, I'll bring Guiness.

What's this course like?  I'd like to do an Oly sometime, and we have family in Memphis, so that makes it do-able for me!

It is a time-trial start lake swim, then the bike ride is on rural (read:  country) roads that are blocked off, then the run is an out-and-back that finishes up near the lake/crowd.  The bike is fast (or was last year) and the run is good, but that last bit along the levee of the lake seems to take for ever.  (So I have heard....I blew out my hammy last year in the first mile and DNF'd).  The race location is about 15-20 minutes outside of Memphis.  Most everyone stayed in hotels downtown near Beale and then drove out to the race.  It gets a couple of good pro's each year too.

I will be there, due to the fact I live just north of Memphis (about 5 min from the course). For those not familiar with the area and need local info feel free to e-mail or PM me with questions. I have never done the course but I know the roads and lake they use. Depending on what my wife says (should be no problem) if anyone needs a place to stay I should have an extra room or 2 to use.

Thanks Frank. Haley and I may have to take you up on that offer since Lane is giving preference to hot tri-women.

I was born and raised in Memphis and attempted the race in 2004, my only DNF. I  must go back to avenge myself....soon as I get a grip on my open water fear.
