2 new Virginia Tris

Hi RATS,

I have some EXCITING NEWS and I wanted the RATS to be the first to know....

In partnership with Set-up, Inc, I am producing four new triathlons next year:
- Luray Sprint/Olympic Triathlons - 5/14/06
- General Smallwood Sprint/Olympic Triathlons - 9/30/06

All races feature lake swims as well as Sprint and Olympic options. All will
have no earlier
than 8am race starts (1st wave) to enable race morning registration. Both
venues will cap
at 500 athletes (combined Sprint/Olympic).

Luray Triathlons:
In partnership with the town of Luray, the Luray Triathlons will be held near
the historic
Luray, VA in the scenic Shenandoah Valley (about 90 miles west of Washington, DC
and
near Skyline Drive). The events will feature a swim in beautiful Lake
Arrowhead, a rolling
bike course in the vallley on lightly-traveled roads and a run on both dirt
trails and paved
road near the lake. These triathlons will also be part of Set-up, Inc's
Virginia Triathlon
Series and will count toward series points. This will be a destination event
where you can
bring friends and family to enjoy the race, the town and the scenery. Please

General Smallwood Triathlons:
The General Smallwood Triathlons will be held in General Smallwood State Park in

Indianhead, Maryland (60 minute drive from Reston). If you're familiar with
Triathlantic's
Spud, it's the same state park. This is an awesome venue for triathlons. The
swim takes
place in Mattawoman Bay with the bike on lightly traveled, rolling roads and the
run on dirt
trails and paved roads. For information about the state park, please see

Information for both races will be available 12/1/05 with registration opening
on 1/1/06

My background:
In addition to being one of the founders of the refounding of RATS in 2001, I
have been
working as one of the race directors for the Reston Triathlon the last few
years. I am VERY
EXCITED by the opportunity to take my experiences at Reston along with 11 years
of
competitive racing to the next level by producing these events in 2006.
