I am glad to hear that you filled out a comment form on that policeman's actions.  Officers (of the law) are sworn to uphold the law, not to create boguslaws to satisfy their whims.

I hope they do reprimand him. Don't let several days pass without a phone call to follow up. They might be hoping you forget about it. I wouldn't. I always pull people over who screw with bicyclist but I am bias of course towards the bicyclist. I love it when they use the work obstruct. That word gets tossed around my dept. more than swear words. Everyone is obstructing the police. Some people have the little dick syndrome and can't leave well enough alone. I would prefer that your out on the road because one you may be a witness to a crime. Wouldn't that be valuable to the police? Keep riding and don't let them get you down!

Ok...first, I about peed my pants watching the Rocky video!  Thanks for the laugh

Second, this statute is CRAZY: A bicycle may not be used to carry more persons at one time than the number for which it is designed or equipped, except that an adult rider may carry a child securely attached to his or her person in a backpack or sling.

Can you imagine carrying your baby on your BACK while biking!!!!  Maybe I should have gotten a sling last year and just breastfed Claire while getting in my workout!

That cop needs to be fired. Of course, it doesn't surprise me that he doesn't know the law... unfortunately, a lot of local law enforcement seems to attract the same personality types that were bullies in high school

i love how on a loop i take EVERY bike ride the bike lane is between the traffic and parked cars, in front of a tennis club. when i ride that section i am SO vidulant for door flying open, cars pulling out. the one time i (had i not swerved INTO traffic i would have gone over the hood) had a car pull out on my it was a cop. and the rest of my ride i kept thinking that if **that** cop had been behind the biker, and i pulled out like that; i would have gotten the third degree about "killing cyclists" and probly a ticket. (i would have gotten a long lecture, esp since im 24, cops love to lecture me, even if they are wrong.)

Kendall,

remember in government class checks and balances! i just want to say good job for being a good citizen. too many people forget that OUR government works for us, not against us. AND that some people in service, know about poor perforers but cant do things about it BC of politics. my only politics are this "i am your citizen, and i vote." i just wanted to thabk you again for ACTUALLY getting involved.

i am a firm believer in getting involved. (i learned that in the military) my fav thing to say to any polition is "i voted for you (even of i didnt), i would love to vote for you again, but...."

YOU ROCK!
