Comments:

Start of the run was extremely packed and we didn't actually cross the start line until 20 seconds after the official time (which means you could really subtract 20 seconds from all the splits - holy cow!). The first mile was WAY too fast and I had a hard time getting my heart rate/breathing back under control. Had to take a quick 20-30 second walk break at around 1.5 to get in control. I don't remember ever pushing it so hard in a race before and I was extremely uncomfortable the whole time! But wow, it felt great to see the clock under 27 minutes when I rounded the corner for the finish line. That motivated me to sprint a bit toward the finish line. There is no way I could have run this fast without my awesome husband/training partner motivating me the whole way!! :)
What would you do differently?:

Not start out quite as fast for the first mile.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, got my breathing back to normal and turned in my time. They had an ICEE truck (I absolutely LOVE blue icees - it's unnatural! ;)), so I got a free blue icee - I think that made the entire race worth it! Definately the best post-race treat I've ever seen at a race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Too fast for the first mile - but this was an amazingly great run for me. I think my last PR was a little over 32 minutes (granted, I haven't run a 5K in a while).

Event comments:

It was amazing how many people were along the course cheering for a 5K. Tons of volunteers and one drink stop (although I don't drink during a 5K). Great organization for a 5K.

Nice job out there! That start was WAY too crowded. I really did not like running on Johnson Ferry Road with traffic! Wonder why they couldn't just block off all the southbound traffic for an hour?

Congrats on your PR!

You rock, Heather! Great job. I like the fact that you used to run a 32 min. 5K. It gives me hope that I can get my time down. Awesome run!
