just checked the paper for the current water temp where my first tri is being held.  That would be Nantucket Sound and it is up to a whopping 51 degrees.  I'm not sure where they take the temp at, because of course it's warmer in the shallow water near the shore.  Anyhow, I hope we're due for a huge heat wave in the next few weeks, otherwise the swim will be cancelled as it was last year.

Wow! That is cold. Maybe you should start traveling to tropical areas for early season tris!

Yah - having gone in 50 degree water last week - that's way cold. Notice I "went" in - didn't swim all that much hoping for a national heat wave in water actually

I wish I had ordered the neoprene swim cap. Oh well, I'm not swimming any time soon.

And just to think that some people were complaining about 70 degree water here in good old LA!

Ellen,

There's a sprint tri right here in Deerfield Beach next Sunday.  I'm not planning on doing it, but the ocean is ~75 deg. right now.  Still wetsuit if you want it, but not really necessary because air temp is in the 80's!  Come on down.

I can only wish!! How nice would that be? I cannot even imagine 80 degrees, never mind warm water.

If they still swim and you back out of the event, can I have your spot? I'll even promise to root for the Sox!

LOL, I knew you wouldn't...too stubborn like me! I was thinking of the Ashland tri on the same day if I don't get into the Hyannis one. It's a much longer swim though...1 mile, but at least in fresh water so it should be warmer. I'm still on the fence on that one.
