Subject: RE: Ba Gua - Feng Shui I believe Feng Shui (literally means "wind water", 2 of the most important elements of life, according to the ancient Chinese) originally was mant to help people to design a house so that they can live comfortably/practically. I am no Feng Shui master, but heard of a few things that are considered "good" Feng Shui... - A house that faces south is good - when it faces west, it would be too hot in the afternoon. When faces east, the rising sun is not strong enough to keep your house warm... bare in mind the ancient people did not have air-cond/heat/light... When faces south, people can maximize the natural light.
- a mirror right in front of your bed leads to nightmares - of couse! If you wake up in the middle of the nigth and saw your messy self in the mirror, you'd freak!
- A house at the corner of 2 busy street will bring you misfortune - more likely to be broken into.
- Plants too close to your bed is bad for your health - green plant emits carbon dioxide at night (without light, green plants switch from photosynthesis - absorb CO2 and emit O2 - to respiration - absorb O2 and emit CO2). If a room is not well ventilated, people would wake up half suffocated, just like you were in a crowded room.
Somehow over the years, this Feng Shui thing evolved into something more superstitious. |
