anyone interested in adopting a very cute 2 1/2 year old? anyone? anyone?
today i went across the street to our neighborhood coffee shop and bought two lbs of organic coffee beans
(1 lb caf, 1 lb decaf
). a little later, fiona was alone downstairs while i was helping ella
(my almost 5 year old
) upstairs... when we heard from downstairs in the kitchen...
SPLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH....
and again...
PWUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSHHH....
both pounds of coffee. whole bean. organic. bird friendly. fair trade. $11 a pound. add alllllllll over my house. do you have ANY idea how far oily coffee beans can travel? we're talking land speed records here. into the dining room, into the foyer, under and into EVERYTHING at floor level. plus, she ATE some of them. aaaaaaaaaaa!
lucky for me, half of them were decaf...and bill only works 5 minutes away and was just about ready to come home anyway, because if he hadn't been able to get home, i would have been auctioning fiona off to the highest bidder
($50 and two pounds of dog-hair free coffee beans? she's YOURS!
). ella also helped by singing me songs while i scooped up coffee beans off the floor and saying 'mama, i'm sorry you're having such a hard day.' i'll won't be selling HER to the gypsies.
the beans - well, i JUST vacuumed the kitchen floor
(i never sweep, i just use the hepa vac everywhere
) and mopped, since we were having family over, so it was very clean. i managed to get a large portion of them cleaned up and in usable shape
(maybe
), but about a pound of them is very questionable. the beans that travelled under the rolling cart and bakers cart are not usable - cafe au dog hair.
i'm sure some of the other tri mamas and papas will agree - triathlons are only training for the real endurence event in our lives - PARENTHOOD!
ps. ella had ballet tonight and i have bill take both girls off to class, leaving me hear alone to decompress from hosting family for the last two weekends and then the coffee fiasco.
