Austin Area Rides

How long of a ride are you looking for? I can give you some suggestions from there. Also, where in south Austin will you be?

I live in Kyle. I really don't know what distance I want to ride. This will be my first real ride off the trainer. (I usually put in 60 minutes on the trainer.) I will probably do something around 2 hours or so...nothing too extraordinary since this wil be my first long ride.

Would 30 miles be about right then?

yeah that ought to be good.

Then a good option would be just to ride Loop 360 (also known as Capital of Texas Highway). Park somewhere along 360: Barton Creek green belt is one option. Ride north up to Hwy 183 and then turn around and ride back. That will be about 25 miles, but it's got some pretty good hills. The shoulders are nice and wide and you'll have plenty of company, especially on a Sunday morning.

There is a route we did a lot last year that is in Buda.  If I can find the map I'll post the directions.
