Hey, all! I'm a 33-year-old who's training for her first triathlon next April. My husband completed one last year and it looks like fun. Running is my weakest, almost non-existant, link. I have a hard time running more than 400 meters! Any advise on how to ease into running would be appreciated.

This sounds simple but just keep getting out there and running. If you ran 400 meters today, the next time you run, go 401 meters. Take it slow and it will get better. Your right tri's are fun!

get out their 4-5 times a week since this is your weakest event.  only go up 5-10% per week and have a 'EZ week' (thanx yvette) once a month of a 30-50% decrease in activity.  keep at it.  split up your runs with some walk/runs too if can't do the 5-10% increase/week.  u will get there.

We sound a lot alike. I also am 33 years old and training for my first triathlon. Running is definately my weakest part. Ron and Michael both have great advice. Keep doing it, but don't try to over-do it over the 10% mark. Good luck and hope all goes well with your training.

RUNNINGN IS A BIG CONCERN FOR ALL SINCE IT IS THE LAST LEG AND YOU ARE FATIGUED ALREADY. i HAVE FOUND THAT IF I BREAK UP MY WORK OUT (SWIM ONE DAY, BIKE THE NEXT AND RUN THE LAST DAY ) AND AT THE END OF THE WEEK PICK A LEG AND DO IT FOR TIME I CAN ACHIEVE MY GOALS FASTER AND WITH EASE. I HAVE LOOKED AT THE DISTANCE FOR MY NEXT EVENT AND HAVE CONCENTRATED ON THAT DISTANCE. I ALSO WILL INCREASE MY SPEED BY 10% EACH WEEK. THIS IS NOT FOR EVERYONE BUT IT HAS SEEMED TO WORK

GOOD LUCK
