Total Time = 7h 00m
Overall Rank = 3324/5000
Age Group = F20-24
Age Group Rank = 233/252
Pre-race routine:

Woke up, showered, ate breakfast, got dressed and ready. Headed downstairs at the hotel to stretch and then headed out to the corrals.
Event warmup:

Not too much. Mostly walking to the corrals. I underestimated the time it would take to get there, so I didn't really have time to do much. I spent most of that time trying to keep warm.
Run
  • 2h 39m 3s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 12m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

I started out really good. My plan was to start out pretty slow, which I did, wtih 13 min miles for the first two. Then, drop down to 12 (2 miles), 11 (2 miles), 10 (rest of course). I made it to mile 8 and then developed a pretty nasty cramp in my side that just wouldn't go away. Pretty much ruined my plans for a quicker run. Even still, I thought it would take me 3 hours, so I am happy that I was able to be faster than that.
What would you do differently?:

Not get a cramp in my side? I'm not really sure why this has been happening lately, so it's something I'm going to try to figure out.
Post race
Warm down:

Lots and lots of walking around in the sand at the beach. Stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The main problem was the cramp in my side. I think I would have been fine if that wasn't there. Mentally, I knew I was prepared (apart from all of my doubts). Once I was on the course and past the first few miles, I knew that I was going to do it because I was feeling good.

Event comments:

I thought this was a fun race.

Performance: Good
Course: The course was very flat. First six miles were into the wind, so I was pretty chilly. Felt warm after about mile 3 or 4. The turn at about mile 6.5 was great. Finally had the wind at my back and more sun on me. Felt so much better after that point.

Congratulations on finishing your first 1/2 and in well under your estimated time.
What an achievement, I hope that you're proud and revel on the glory that is funny walking for the next few days! No, I hope you pull up much better than that!!
