Total Time = 4h 53m 23s
Overall Rank = 224/450
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 30/53
Pre-race routine:

Got up, showered, drank 2 glasses of OJ and ate 2 pieces of buttered/jellied toast.
Event warmup:

None, really. Just talked with a guy I met on tbe bus to Fair Park.
Run
  • 4h 53m 23s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 11m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

I did most of my training at night or when it wasn't extremely hot/humid outside. Race day weather was very similar to my first marathon and I achieved similar results.
What would you do differently?:

Train more in the heat.
Post race
Warm down:

Sat and drank, then ate some pizza and a banana.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat/humidity. At the start of the race it was about 70, but by the end I think it was 85+ and humid.

Event comments:

The race was pretty well organized, but the course had some construction on some of the roads which made it somewhat difficult to run while in the "start crowd". The free massages were non-existent by the time I finished (the massagers had left before I finished). Overall I think the guy did a pretty good job.

May not have been what you wanted, but nice start to the season. When we do not reach our goals, it is our job to learn from the experience, and it seems you have.
