Im am about to sign up for a (my first) Duathalon. I am over 200 lbs (210). Do I have to race as a Clydesdale Competitor or can I just sign up regular. Any benefit to signing up as a Clydesdale Competitor?

Thanks
steve

You can sign up as just an age grouper.  Only advantage of signing up as a clydesdale is you will not be racing those super quick small little think guys.

To expand on that: the AG competition tends to have many more people in the group, whereas the Clydesdales typically don't (if you want some hardware).  However, be warned that there are some FAST Cyldes out there...

The Clydesdales who win are 6'7" and weight 200.1 pounds. They are all named Bjorn.

Embrace your inner fat man and sign up as a Clydesdale.  You are hauling a lot more weight than the typical age grouper.  Unless you can convince all of them to wear backpacks with added weight, stay with the heavies.
