Subject: 2005 Quintana Roo Tequilo

I found someone selling a 2005 Quintana Roo Tequilo.  I've looked at the bike and the frame is in great shape for the age.  Carbon fork.  Dura Ace components (shifters, brakes, crank). Not sure on the wheel set (didn't look closely at the wheels).  Overall the bike appears to be in good shape.  I'm going to ride the bike on Saturday but I don't know enough about these bikes to know if I'm overpaying.  The ask price is $700 but the way he talked it sounded somewhat negotiable.  It appears to be just what I'm looking for (a budget tri bike).  If anyone has any input on whether $700 sounds reasonable for this bike it would be appreciated.

This was my first tri bike about three years ago. At the time, I paid about $800 for it with Ultegra. It was like new.

Compared to my old road bike it was like lightning. Didn't last long (about three months) because wife took it from me. I was ok with that as it forced me to buy a Lucero.

If it were me, I think I'd offer him $500 and go from there.

Had an older Tequilo as my first tri bike and loved it but love my Seduza even more.  Go a little lower ($600) and use the $100 towards a tune-up at the LBS.

Thanks for the advise guys.  I went and rode it today and ended up buying it for $600.  I think it's a good deal given the good condition and the dura ace upgrades.
