Look for Team Suck It Up Buttercup on the course and say "Hi" to us.  Karen is the taller, Steph is shorter, and I'm the guy.  Here is our daughter modeling the kit:

Flames make you faster.

Weather forecasts are all coming into line with each other...I think we know what we'll be getting:  Same as the other three times I was at VM, so my streak of no miserable weather looks to continue.  Four different forecasts online all had the low at about 50F for the start and a late afternoon high in the mid-80s (range from 84F to 87F for the forecasts).  Since the alternative has usually been highs in the mid- to upper 90s, that's about as good a forecast as it gets.

Special needs bags...  Are the run special needs bags really not returned to you?  I want to put a just in case flashlight or headlamp in there (hoping to not need it) but I'd kinda like to get it back.

Pretty sure you can get both bags back.  I didn't have an SN bag on the bike in 2009 (and there wasn't SN for the run then...you could enter T2 after each loop on the run if you wanted to get something from your rack position), but my wife had an SN bag for the bike on our relay last year and we got it back afterwards (took some asking around...the first couple volunteers we asked had no idea where the bags were).  Run SN is near the exit from T2 at the HS, so I can't imagine you won't be able to get your bag afterwards.  I think this is just the RD's way of telling you, "No promises."  They say much the same thing at WTC IMs in terms of discouraging people from putting stuff they want back in their SN bags.

Last year, I was told that I would not be able to get my bike SN bag back.  I planned accordingly and only gave up a few extra tubes and CO2.  The run bags are available as you leave the turnaround/finish area before you leave the parking lot driveway and turn onto the road after each lap.  They had volunteers that would help locate your bag during the race.  They were laid out in numerical groupings.  No problem getting it after the race but by then I was on my own to sift through and find it.

Be careful out there and make it to the starting line...d-bag in a big black Suburban ran a stop sign during my last ride before leaving town this morning and came within a couple feet of taking me (and the rental wheels) out...we both hit the brakes hard and fortunately I got clipped out a split second before going down.  Oy...

My wife and I always call this week "bubble wrap time," cuz we'd like to be wrapped in it for safekeeping.

First of all I hope you all reach your goals on Saturday and most of all Enjoy The Day. I wish you all the best!!!

I hope to be in your shoes next year as I plan to attempt my first bid at the 140.6 Distance on July 27th one day before I turn 50.  Can't think of a better way to celebrate turning 50; well OK I could but this is what I prefer to be doing.  I have been following your thread for a while so thank you for all the insights in how you are preparing and getting ready for your day.  Can't wait to read your Race Reports.

Very nice to meet you Ashley. Loved the kit you were wearing. Some other girl passed me running and said hi, saw the buttercup kit on BT, but I didn't catch her name. It was a tough run, but all the buttercups finished!

Some folks at the hotel said that full Vineman will be an IM branded event next year. U said even with Tahoe? They said that's what we hear. Has anyone else heard this?

I kind if like that it's an independent event.

Oooh. Really? I was looking forward to doing this race next year partly because it's an "independent" - I've done two IM-branded IMs and am ready for a smaller one!

I'll be watching for news on this - please update if you hear anything solid!

They were a Kona qualifier years ago... they've always had a loose affiliation with WTC.
