Comments: Started out with the masses and tried to find some feet to draft. Was getting passed early on, and before I knew it, there was a 20 yard gap between myself and the main pack. I wasn't about to bridge the gap, and nobody was really coming around me for me to jump on. Pretty much swam the last 1700 meters on my own. After 1500, I realized I had way too much left in the tank and picked the pace up...basically sprinted the last 200 yards. First 1000m down 19:34 Last 1000m back (with run up to the beach) 20:13 I would say the distance between the start buoy and the actual mat finish line took me over 30 seconds. Add to the fact that it was an extremely windy day, and I should have been much slower coming back into the wind/chop. Somehow ended up taking my AG. Just goes to show that it all depends on who shows up. What would you do differently?: I suppose I don't know how to do these races based on effort. I went out way too easy and lost the main pack and my free draft ride. I need to go out harder in the beginning and not save so much energy for the end. Post race
Warm down: Showered and left pretty much right away. Had I known I would have won an award I may have stuck around. What limited your ability to perform faster: Improper pacing during the frist 500. Last updated: 2011-11-09 12:00 AM
