pitt83 - 2011-12-08 10:03 PM I am on hold. I have always wondered the disappointment of someone who has studied music only to have their creation abused like this.

Please tell me it's not Christmas music. 'Cause that's child abuse, makin' the lil baby Jesus cry.

what is your gf studying?

She's studying to be a teacher. Second time through school, this time she seems to have found something she really, really loves, and will be great at

Let me rephrase... she loved what she used to do, as well, but needed a more sustainable career path which she is just as passionate about.

I have no idea what it was. Some bouncy guitar thing.

And Christmas music? Yikes. When I worked in a restauarnt, Muzak had 1 tape on continuous loop. You got to know the play order as well as the songs. That's worse than water boarding.

oh good luck to her then! I hope that works out.

Love what I do…but, for some reason the fit hasn’t been ‘right’ here.

I actually majored in elem education. But went into business after college. This might sound…bad, but nowadays, being a teacher is so hard. Kids are so disrespectful. Parents don’t respect teachers. Not paid enough. It is a profession that isn’t what it used to be. Granted, one usually goes into the profession not for money, but with all that crap they have to put up with, just to me…wouldn’t be a path I’d take nowadays. But, summers off. Hmm. I could dig that.

I completely understand. She seems to have had pretty good luck with it thus far, but times definitely are changing. She's the kind of girl, though, who would actually be a good teacher, and could probably make a big difference in a lot of lives. I have so much respect for people who go into teaching because they want to be a teacher, not because they didn't know what else to do. The world needs more GOOD teachers, and less bad ones.

blueyedbikergirl - 2011-12-08 8:50 PM Hi TAN, I'm going to try a Pilates class for the first time during my lunch hour - somehow I think my core muscles are gonna hurt like a mofo tomorrow.

YUMMY! Even better than a hot boy! {{TANGEMELONS PRESS}} I don't care if you are stinky and sweaty. Heck, that's a bonus.

I ghostwrote several Pilates training manuals l and I've never taken nor done any Pilates. But I knowz my readin' and ritin' and 'rithmatick.

Pilates mat?

Hello my Yantilicious!  {{{TANGEMELONS PRESS}}}

If you're looking for sweaty, I'll definitley be drenched later as I'm going to go home and ride George for a few hours while I watch Game of Thrones.     I haven't even read anything on Pilates so I'm going in blind - but I also think that's going to be part of the fun - no idea what to expect other that it should make me ache tomorrow!

Fun!

That's one thing I have tried yet... aside from a friend's workout video in college...

Let us know how it goes!

All I'm going to say is that I cheated a LOT

The whole thing was a little odd in that it didn't feel like a 'work out' because I didn't get all sweaty and such, but I can already feel that my stomach muscles were definitely used and will probably ache tomorrow.  All in all, I think I want to try it again... without the cheating and see how well I do!

No no no silly, there's no cheating. You just do what you feel like you can do.

However, if you slouch when you're supposed to be in neutral spine, you will be shot.

Both of my parents were teachers and it was really interesting growing up to see the difference between my mom (or mum as she now likes to be referred to as) and my dad.  It took my mum 3 times of trying to retire before she was able to let go she loved teaching so much.  She had gone from a teacher to a vice principal at an elementary school and then went on to teach at university in the education department.  My dad on the other hand, while he wasn't a bad teacher was really in it because he loved coaching football so much.  He taught for over 26 years, but when early retirement was offered, he took it - though continued to be a coach for the football team for a number of years after he retired from teaching.

Okay, so maybe I was just a tad naughty and pushed it more than I should have - though I was very, very careful about making sure my spine was in the correct position for everything... possibly cuz I knew my back would be exceptionally angry with me later if I didn't.

That is awesome on her part. Going back to school, and wanting to teach.

Teaching is the only thing I'm genuinely good at, and what I love above all. It finds me whenever I need it, though.

Yea, she's going to be a kickass teacher. There are few people I have met that I have said that about. Her and my sister are pretty much the only ones.

Hello Matty Matt!

How are you and your doggy?

Hey Yanti.  How are you on this fine and chilly (at least here) day?  My beagle is struggling along.  She has degenerative disks in her spine that are really taking a toll on her, BUT she is hanging in there.  I jsut hope that she makes it past Christmas for the sake of my kids.
