Total Time = 1h 42m
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = women 30-39
Age Group Rank = 5/10
Pre-race routine:

I ate a peanut butter and honey sandwich and drank gatorade two hours before the race.
Event warmup:

I did some stretching and rode for 15 min.
Bike
  • 1h 42m
  • 26 kms
  • 15.29 km/hr
Comments:

In the first lap I began at a safe pace, using the flat part to finish warming up. In the climb there was traffic because the women start 1 min after the 90k men. And the downhill was the best part because the course, after yesterday's rain, was more compact than last weekend. To finish the lap we rode another fast flat section.

To begin the second lap I switched water bottle with Felix and a friend showered me with water as I passed by. I had a power gel before the climb and didn't find much traffic.
What would you do differently?:

Train more on the MTB. I haven't ridden on the dirt much because of my half ironman training.

But I'm happy with my result, a pb on dirt.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

No MTB-specific training.

Event comments:

The race was good and was sponsored by my team, Special K. Awards were given to the top five of every category. Of the six current members of the team, five of us got on the podium in the different age groups.

Hey Mayde, great job!!  Sounds like you had a good ride and your support crew (ie. Felix and friend) did their jobs perfectly.  Congratulations.

It's a good thing that you passed the 90 kilo guys in the climb, a long time before the downhill!

Congratulations on another excellent race.

Your English and your racing keep getting better!

By the way, there's a picture of you (#933) on Page 15 at www.imagensport.com.ve

Only a few more weeks left until your half ironman!

Félix
