Subject: Fort Hood for a few days in January
I will be headed to Fort Hood for business for a couple of days in January.  I will have just started my IM training plan and want to stay with it as much as possible while I am gone.  I see I can swim at Abrahms, and I am sure I can spin and treadmill, but I would really like to ride.  Is there anywhere I can rent a road or even a hybird bike?  Nothing fancy needed.  Just want to cruise a llittle and would like to do it outside if the weather is cooperative.

Not sure how doable it is but Ft Hood is just up the road from Austin.  There's a couple of shops in town you can rent from I believe, such as Austin Tri Cyclist or Jack and Adams.

I think Austin is a bit far for an after work ride and I won't be there on the weekend.  I may just have to do a couple of spin classes.

Abrahms is your best bet for swimming and spin classes by far. Plenty of great roads on North Fort Hood to ride if you can get your hands on a bike. I lived there for 2 years and never saw a bike shop in the Killeen area. Check with some of the guys you will be working with, Im sure someone has a bike they can loan you. Dont plan on doing too many early morning rides on post due to PT, good luck.

Thanks for the advise about Abrahms; looks like they have plenty of opportunities for lap swimming and I guess I will just deal with a spin bike.  Fortunately, I won't be there over a weekend so I won't miss any long rides.
