This ever happen to anyone else?  What are my options?

In case you missed what I am asking about, it's the hole in the fabric on the nose of my seat, not the ugly ornament.

One of mine is falling apart too. Definitely worse shape than yours.

I think I'm just going to replace it.

I love the saddle except for the width of the nose.  Adamo's are too wide up front, i actually pull my nose together and secure it with wire ties on the rails to narrow it up.

That's why I'm looking forward to the new Adamo Prologue 2012 saddle. They narrowed the nose.

That works?
How many ties? What thickness? How long they last?

One zip tie.  Pull the nose prongs together to the desired width.  I've had the same zip tie on mine for around 2 years.

How much are you guys narrowing the prongs of the Adamo with your zip ties? How much difference does it make to the comfort of the saddle?

The Adamo saddle on my tri bike certainly took care of the comfort issue that it was designed to address ... but the prongs dig into unpadded bones in a way that I quickly find quite uncomfortable. I found that the biggest challenge of HIM training was working on reducing that saddle discomfort. If prong narrowing could fix that, then I would be a happy camper indeed.

What follows isn't a quantitative answer (which probably wouldn't be helpful anyway).  The problem I was having was that the prongs were rubbing my inner thighs in a way that became uncomfortable after more than 45 minutes of riding.  I pulled them together until they didn't significantly rub my inner thighs any more.  Problem solved.  (I've ridden 8+ hours with no issues.)

Derailing this thread slightly..... I'm considering a new saddle myself to improve soft tissue comfort for extended periods in aero position. After looking around a bit at different saddles, I am intrigued by the Selle SMP line (you can see the selection of saddles here). It seems like these saddles would address the same issues as the Adamo, but with a narrower nose (and some models are wider or narrower than others). I'm curious if anyone rides one of these saddles, and what you think. They ain't cheap - especially for the higher end lines, but I'm thinking the Extra or Hybrid (and maybe even the TRK) might work for me. Anyone have experience on this saddle? I might post this question over on the Gear Review forum and see if I can get some feedback there....

I ride an SMP, and have for 2 years. LOVE IT. It 'does' take a bit of time to get it just perfect though. Yes its spendy(I have the Lady Glider, which is at the top end and pretty hard) but its a beautifully made leather saddle. I have done 2 HIM's and 2 IM builds on it, and it looks like new.

I tried an Adamo and felt like I was a wishbone riding a 2x4. That aside the quality vs price was pretty crazy(made in Taiwan, synthetic leather and terrible staple job)

Genius. My wife wants one, but she's complained about the width. I like this "fix."

Thanks for the feedback. Nice to hear a female perspective on these saddles.... I've pretty much convinced myself that this is what I'm gonna try next....

They made a new one called the Prologue that has narrower nose prongs.

Hubby got me an Adamo Prologue for Christmas. I tried it out on the trainer this morning and it's fantastic! He found it online for around $130.
