Got a run session in yesterday and one today. Work is turning from busy to swamped for at least the rest of the month paired with an on call rotation for 2 weeks. Morning workouts are going to be a must in the next couple weeks.  Puts me half way through and made up 1 I missed over the weekend with being sick.

Riding today and tomorrow to help the legs recover . This morning I rode most of the trail Half mary i will be running sunday. (Bonus points for team MACCA) There are 2 shallow water crossings and right after one short narrow section is quite gnarly : basically 10% steep switchback and filled with fist size or bigger shifting loose rocks so i carried my bike through that part. Race plan is to power walk up and down the 100m killer hill section .

Good luck on the half. It sounds like a great time. I'm looking forward to doing some tail running off of this frozen ice crust.

6 for me yesterday puts me at just under 75 total.  8 spot on tap for today and then a big weekend that should have me at 100+ by Monday!

So I caught a cold that started on Sunday night that seems to be tapering off now. I missed 1 run and fast walked last night's planned run. Here's to a healthy weekend!

Edit: I gave myself a run credit for the fast walk. Let me know if anyone isn't ok with this.

Also, I just realized that there are 13 planned runs on my calendar this month, not 14. I changed my goal to reflect this. Sorry about my math skills!

More miles for Team MACCA
I ran the Rose bowl trail 1/2 marathon
starts outside and finish at the 50y line inside the stadium temperature overcast and about 45F
Quite a fun trail race with a downhill start and finish. Its slightly uphill from mile 3 to 9 , there are
two water crossings and a gnarly steep 10% slope loose rocky trail section about 150 m long that you have to climb and then later descent
Settled into my pace by mile 5 and just seemed to get stronger after that picking off
runners ahead of me. Lots of rollers and little incline changes which was very welcome for me.
Good footing despite the rain yesterday.
Sprinted the last 100 m to pass a few folks just in front Good times

I started another round of antibiotics. The shot didn't quite jump start my immune system all the way -- my lymph node on the left side of my neck started swelling again a couple days ago. Man, that really, really, hurts.

Anyway, it's calming down finally. I ran 6.67 miles yesterday and took a 40 minute spin on the trainer this morning as a kind of recovery.

I'm sorry, team. I'm not going to make my goal. It's been a tough January for me. My bout with strep throat really took a lot out of me. :-(

Hi Folks,

Sorry, I keep forgetting to check into this thread!  I just looked back, and I said that I was counting cross country skiing as running if it snows when I posted my goal.... So if skiing counts, then it looks like I'm almost done with my challenge!  Sitting at 48.35 miles done out of my goal of 50 miles for the month.

And I have a half marathon on Saturday which I believe will count for 50% more mileage, so I'll easily hit my run goal even if I don't count the skiing miles!
