I'm in for the 2nd time...3rd if you count when it was the 5430 Long Course.  Hopefully this will be the first time I can do it without a surgical boot on my foot!

I'm in! I've never been to Boulder. Anything you guys want to tell me about the course and the area? Looks like a couple of you have done this one before.

For you first timers.

Lake swim is usally wetsuit legal (never heard it was not)

Hills on the bike are not steep.  Do watch out for the secound water station.  I saw the most wrecks thier.  It is on a fast section of the course.

The run is on a gravel road then dirt path then pavment then another lap.  On hill on the run that is tougher (for me) then it looks.  Also thier is NO shade on the run and it should be around 90 degrees.

Volenteers are top notch and the whole race is a lot of fun.  I wish everone the best of luck.

I'm in for the 1st time! This is my big goal race for the season and I'm super excited. I hope for some good solid training this spring/summer and NO injuries!

Good luck to everyone training/racing!

Thank you for the info you have already given.  I'm excited about the race and the route I'll be training on is probably a bit harder than the actually race route.  The swim terrifies me though.  Just went and got a swim coach!

I'm in.  Did it back when it was 5430.  Cheered the last 2 years.  Ready to tackle it again.  Looking for a post kids PR at the distance.

For the 1st timers, It is a nice swim (wetsuit usually legal but doable without), Rollers on the bike but a pretty fast course, and a beastly hot and boring run in the past.  Be ready for the run.

It is a great place for the family since there is the ironkids the day before (down to 3 yr olds) and they have been opening the swim beach at about 8 or 9am on race day (after all racers are out of the water) so the families can play in the water...bring the sunscreen.  Also, if you have family, bring food and drinks...there is not normally much vending at the res.  The transition is right near the swim beach so the family can play while you ware out on course and still see you from time to time.  You can cool off in the Res after the race.  Boulder is a fun town.  The race course is all north of town.

Res = Resevior = Boulder resevior = Race site/transition area.

I'm in the same boat as you...first time for this race AND first time at this distance! This swim is definitely the scariest part but my plan is to just do it slow and finish! Good luck to ya!

I just signed up to swim in a relay. I did one sprint years ago and signed up for the 5430 this year. I can't wait to check out the scene and hopefully get motivated to do it solo next year.
