Subject: Inexpensive tri gifts for birthday?
My birthday is upcoming, and the wife is asking for a list of potential things I'd like as a present. Any suggestions for inexpensive ($75 & under) things would be great. I can't think of much other than a gift card to the LBS or running shop. I'd rather shop for my own stuff.

Consumables like body glide, socks, bottles, gels and such, maybe a running shirt, hat.  These are things that I think you can't have too much of.

I agree with you - I love getting gift cards to local running, bike or tri shops but may not be personal enough coming from your wife.

How about race photos? I usually won't spend my hard-earned cash on my own photos, but would love one as a gift. You can probably still order photos on-line for any of last year's events.

x2!! If your wife is crafty, she could arrange these stuff like a birthday cake.  Kind of like tying diapers like a tiered cake.

A bucket of your favorite electrolyte mix.

Little things go a long way...

She could write messages on your gel packets with a permanent marker.

Other things I could think of:  bar tape, googles, new cleats (depending on what kinds you have...if you have Look/Shimano's they could be replaced for cheaply), quick laces for your running shoes (if you need replacements), etc.

custom jersey or tri suit would be pretty cool. I guess you need to define inexpensive with a number.

You could get a nice jersey with no graphics and she could take it to some shop to get a design put on for under $150. Would be unique and something you always remember

One of my employees gave me SALTSTICK electrolyte dispensers for my bar ends.

It was a very thoughtful gift. He gets a raise this year Laughing

Not that I can claim to be totally objective here, but one of these would be a pretty good choice. Or so these guys say.

How very strange, not 10 minutes ago I had the same conversation with my wife, we (read I) seem to have settled on Tri-shorts from the kids, Tyr Jammers from her and consumables.

I love the RoadID idea, that is excellent, I missed a trick as I bought both mine and my wife's last week! $20 each for the sports band......oh and they do a nice RoadID headsweats running hat for only $10
