Total Time = 1h 36m 48s
Overall Rank = 255/401
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 26/29
Pre-race routine:

Same as always, get up, eat toast w/Nutella & peanut butter. Drive up to St. Pete was uneventful. Got to packet pick-up by 6:45.
Event warmup:

Easy static stretch, didn't plan on pushing it, so used the first half mile as my warm-up.
Run
  • 31m 27s
  • 3.25 miles
  • 09m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Used the Newton's to start, still don't like them. Too much of a heel striker to make the switch. Pace felt OK. Ran with the same group most of the way.
What would you do differently?:

TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN!!!
Transition 1
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

First time I've worn socks during transition, foot slipped a little as I did my flying mount, but not enough to cause a problem.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 30m 32s
  • 9.5 miles
  • 18.67 mile/hr
Comments:

First run really took a lot out of the legs, could not get going. Felt like I was going VERY slow. Got passed by more people than I'm used to.
What would you do differently?:

See Run 1.
Transition 2
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

Guy at dismount line gave me a 5 out of 10 on my dismount, I argued and he rose it to a 7!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 32m 26s
  • 3.3 miles
  • 09m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Hoped to run 10 minute mile pace. Started out OK, wore the Fast Twitch this time. Felt much, much better. At about the same point that I met up with the group on Run 1, I picked up another runner this time. Ran with Patrick all the way till the last 1/4 mile. (he took off)
What would you do differently?:

See bike and run 1 comment.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked back along run course cheering on those still running. Met up with the group from Ryder Bikes. Had some snacks and water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hmmmm..... LACK OF TRAINING? Two full time jobs just doesn't leave a lot of free time in the day.
