Swim waves are posted.

I am regretting signing up as a novice, our wave is dead last.

Ouch! That's pretty bad. I was lucky and have a start time of 7:30.

I guess I should have known that but o well.  Looks like I will have to get some training runs in during that day rather than mornings and nights.  Good luck everyone!

I'm in, and ready to go...I guess.

Definitely looking forward to the race, however I am not looking forward to the waiting around part since my wave (M18-29) doesn't go off until 830a or so...Oh well, looks like I will be getting 'pumped' with some music before hand.

To all you St. A's vets out there, any words of wisdom to us new to the race, or those doing a tri for the first time?

All you newbies...

Don't worry about the waiting, matter of factly - if your going to do more races, then, get used to it. Its a fact of wave starts and how most triathlons get started.

There will be enough for you to see and worry as well as plenty of people to cheer on to get started and time will fly, and once your wave goes, time freezes until you cross the finish line.

Go out and enjoy it; do YOUR race and don't worry about others going faster or slower, and above all, PLEASE, don't draft (don't cheat).  Slow down for a second if someone is trying to pass on the bike, cheer those around you and HAVE A GOOD TIME!

last year was the first time for St Anthony's and I was in the novice wave. It was kind of hard waiting but for me it was good to see others do it first. It was hot by the time I was running but I like heat so that was ok. The good thing was the course was not very busy. My daughter was watching at transition and she said early on people were coming in bloody. There are a lot of tight turns and I had no trouble with lots of people trying to take a turn at the same time, which is what I imagine was why so many people were bloody. I can't wait! What are the water temps down there, anybody know?

Had to defer this year due to knee injury.  I'll miss not being there as this is a race I do every year.  Everyone have a great race and most importantly HAVE FUN!

So with the freezing...brrr...cold weather (LOL) moving through this week, what are the odd of a wet-suit legal race?

So sorry, TriRSquared that you have to miss! I have injured my knee too, although not badly but I am wondering how this is going to go. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

It's 78.8 right now and if the 7 day forecast holds I'm wagering it's going to stay above 78.

You never know Tri-RSquared...Lots of wind the next few days, could cause some upwelling due to the strong North winds. Might be just enough, given the slightly lower temps...we will see.

Wow it's 76.5 today.  That's surprising.  Maybe it will be legal.  Personally I never got too worried about it.  Be prepared for a non-legal race and if it is legal, then that's gravy...

I am ready either way. Way I look at it, all participants have to race the same course, so no real advantage over another in my opinion. Though I do enjoy a fast, wetsuit legal, saltwater swim. Makes me feel like Michael Phelps...kind of.

For those of you coming in from out of town here's a link to our local weather.  Looks like a great day to be out there, minus the 20% chance of rain.

Do any of you know if it is wetsuit legal temp does that mean wetsuit mandatory at this race? I really hate wetsuits and get panicky in them, so I have never worn one in a race. I am nowhere near winning anything at all so would rather just be slower than the rest and not panic than get a DNF because someone had to fish me out of the water because the wetsuit was strangling me.

I know that I am probably the only one hoping for a wetsuit non-legal race.

Thanks,

Jan

Not mandatory, so if you don't feel comfortable in one it's your choice. You will see plenty not wearing them, but most of those men and women who aren't will be on the front line of their wave and are swimmers who have never worn one either. Don't fret it, go have fun this weekend. And with the temps most likely just below the limit you will not be cold, no worries.

76.1 degree water temp this morning. It is going to be very close either way. If I had to make a guess I would say just over the 78 degrees on Sunday AM.

If it's close they'll find a way to make it legal...
