What, if any is the difference between Triathlon cycling shoes and normal cycling shoes.

The major difference is that triathlon cycling shoes have a single strap that opens to the outside. It makes them easier to open/close with one hand to get your feet in/out of them while rolling down the road. Plus, since it opens to the outside the strap does not get caught up in the crank.

X2 - The direction on the strap is the main difference but they also will have a bit of a larger heal loop and be more comfortable without socks.

Key is they are easier to put on but you may loose a bit on adjust ability and fit.

Also, tri shoes tend to be lighter and mesh to be cooler. Many have a drain hole to allow water to run out the bottom.
