Comments: First time I ever do a 5km so didn't know what to expect especially with the first km uphill. I know there is no such thing as 'pacing' a 5km, but I didn't want to sprint up the hill and die. The pack prevented me from going out too quickly so I guess that's a good thing. Once at the top of the hill I just lengthened out my stride and felt alright. My achilles tendonds are giving me problems so this was a test to see how they would like some faster pace stuff. All good. I did not look at my wath at all. I just ran comfortably hard Splits Avg/Max HR 4:04 156/168BPM 3:53 163/164BPM 3:51 166/169BPM 4:00 168/170BPM <- Brain tuned out here 3:42 170/172BPM What would you do differently?: In hindsight I could have pushed more. But am more than happy with this result this early. I have done very little faster pace work. Post race

First ever 5km race.
2 Extra large Tim Horton's coffees
6km easy pace warm up. Run up that first km and dreaded the idea of racing on it. Oh well.
