Hello Tri Geeks!

Just registered for the brand new Superiorman Triathlon up in Duluth this coming August 26th. Love the "Escape from the Vista Fleet" idea from the Alcatraz Triathlon! This should become a great race for the Minnesota community. My wife is racing the TriStar 111 in Maple Grove the day before, so we have a triathlon packed weekend in August to enjoy.

Anyone doing this event too?

Bill

I'm in. Signed up first time I read about it. Not sure why but this race sounds really cool to me.

I just checked out the Superior Man website - definitely sounds like a fun race.  If this wasn't my first summer of triathlons, I'd sign up for sure.  Maybe next year!

It's definitely on my "to do" list for future races. I think the race site is perfect and I love Duluth.

Might have to be on my to do list also. Have my first marathon (TCM) in october and haven't ran a HIM yet... tempting.

I registered early.  I have to admit that I was concerned about how high the jump was off the boat but I emailed the RD and he said:

"Actually it looks more like three feet at most. I hadn't taken as close of a look until now. There are two doors/entry ways on each  side of the boat near the back of the boat."

Glad we don't have to jump off the top - I'm afraid of heights.

Denise

I'm in as well.

Thinking of going up on Friday, spending one night at a friend's house, then two nights in a hotel to make it a short family vacation.

I'd jump off the top, as long as I knew my goggles wouldn't be lost.  I'm afraid of heights too, but overcoming that fear is a great rush.

Maybe next year since my race schedule is as packed as last year.

I'm in, this is my race to dial everything in and see where my fitness is at for IMAZ.  Although it's the race's first year, and as such has the potential for all kinds of issues, I have to say that everything I've seen so far on their website is far more organized than any other race I've done.  Let's hope that organization and fervor carry though to race day!

Also, there's only 500 total spots for this race, and less than 200 remaining, so if you're on the fence about this one you might want to to decide soon.

Hope this race happens in 2013, there aren't many options for doing tri's with Lake Superior being the body of water to swim in. Were hoping to do it next year to do races in all the Great Lakes, then hit Grand Marais, Michigan the following weekend for there sprint tri.

How are the roads in this area?  Any other course info from those familiar with the area.

Thanks

Probably not going to be a lot of people who can help you a whole lot. This is going to be a new experience for a lot of us. Duluth is about 3 hours north of Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area and there are not a lot of races up there. Going to be a fun learning experience.

This was posted in another thread...

• Getting in and out of downtown Duluth on your bike. For the first and last 6.5 miles of the bike course, you likely won't be using your aero bars due to all of the turns and or obstacles.
• There is a significant bottle neck where you will ride onto the Lakewalk @ mile 6. This is a very tight corner.
• Riding up the Hwy 61 expressway with traffic @ 65 mph.
• Unless someone sweeps the expressway shoulder really well... you definitely won't want to forget your spare tube/tire.
