I'm on week 7 of my 22 week plan (Fink's Competitive Full Iron plan, but just to the HIM race @ 22 weeks). Plan tops out at 17 hours in week 20.

This is my first HIM, and my only goal is to finish, although I have a (not so) secret hope of under 6 hours.

Averaging 10hrs, looking for 4:45 ish.
Defiantly going to work on speed more, last year I found I had a number 11 on the sufferometer dial... This year I'll capitalize on that more.

What? Nobody doing this on 6 minutes of HIIT a week?  Or was that just for Full Ironman training?

Seriously, I'm at about 8 hours a week six weeks into my 20 week program.  With daylight savings time coming that will progress up to 10 hours as soon as I can ride outdoors and will peak around 12 hours a week.

I just can't seem to be able to get over the 6-hour hump in my weekly training, what with occupational and family obligations. Once it gets nice enough to ride outside I bet I'll be pulling kids in a kid trailer for some of my workouts Goal time is the 6.5-hour mark, so obviously not setting any course records by any means.

gvey - 2012-02-28 8:22 PM Okay, I have to admit, a bit of my post was tongue in cheek. I've done a few of these things. I averaged just over 5 hours a week for IMAZ in 2010. Not a great time, but I had fun. I was just amazed at how many folks are training 12 - 17 hours a week for a half. My question on time was serious...with that much training, what times are y'all shooting for?

5:15ish

In training for my first HIM last year, I put in around 12-15 hours per week during my training. This year is a bit different as I'm doing the Boston Marathon 10 weeks out from 70.3 Mt. Tremblant. Right now I'm doing around 7-9 hours of running a week with 2-3 bikes and 2 swims. As the weather warms over the next few weeks I hope to get in more riding outside. After the marathon I'll transition to an intensive 7 week block of biking and also bring the swimming up. I imagine I'll peak around 17-18 hours per week of training. I went 4:33 in my first HIM last year, and my goal at Mt. Tremblant is qualifying for Vegas. As it's a new course, and quite hilly, I have no clue what time to shoot for. I'll be using power on the bike and HR/RPE on the run, and hopefully that will translate into a Vegas slot.

I see that you've completed some half's in some really quick times!

Last year with my 6hrs/week I went 5:11.  This year my first HIM is Rev3 Knoxville which is supposed to have a tough bike and run course, so I would be happy to at least match last year's time.  I would like to go around 4:45 later this year on a flatter course.
