Subject: Tri Suit Size for Clydes?

I am 6 foot, 225 and have a 36 to 37 inch waist with a 44 to 46 inch chest. I purchased my first tri suit from Hannulink and it was an XL. Once I got it it didn't fit. They advised that their XL fits up to 198 pounds.

Anyway I see other brands that say XL fits my waist size and weight. So I have learned a valuable lesson. Each company has its own sizes.

So I was wondering if any of my Clyde buddies out there can give me suggestions for my first tri suit? What brands are size appropriate for me. Any example of what anyone else has purchased ect..

I know I would like a black or dark color, with a front zipper, for about $75 or under. Thanks in advance for any input.

Was it loose or tight? I found that xl works for me, and we are , mirror sizes. I shop on EBay and deal with companies that allow returns if something doesn't fit. One guy sent me three suits, I kept the one I wanted and then sent back the other two at my cost. That way I got what I wanted at a heck of a deal. Let me look him up.....

I don't use a tri suit. i use a 2 peice kit. but from what i have read is not to worry about the measurments when looking for a wet suit but to guage the size from the weight.

I am 6' 2" and 220. I have a Desoto Forza XL which is a perfect fit and has great pockets. I picked it up for $90 when triathletesports.com were having an end of year sale. One brand to avoid would be Louis Garneau, all of their clothing I have tried is cut very small, an XXL top was a better fit for my medium sized wife than me!

Im always worried about the top drifting up. No one wants to see me looking like that.

I personally haven't had a problem with Louis Garneau and I have a one piece tri suit that fits me fine. I'm 6'2" and weighed about 225 for my last race. I really just depends on the company and making sure you check their sizing before you buy. I actually got in touch with a guy at Louis Garneau and he helped to make sure I was buying the right size for me. I'm actually looking to buy another one, the color choices were slim that time. I'm eyeing a black LG one piece now. Good luck

Today, I just got in a few pieces I ordered from OneTri.com.  The top and bottom I ordered are Louis Garneau and they are both small, though I ordered XXL.  The bottom I can live with, but the top is too short.  If I stretch it as far as it will go, then it will cover my belly, but otherwise 2" of belly stick out.   I do have a long torso, so that is part of it (6'2", but only a 32" inseam).  I will hold onto it for the day I hope to get to since the chest fits fine -- that day where I"m not worried if it rides up.  As it is, my belly hangs out.  I had a good laugh looking at myself in the mirror.

On a positive note, OneTri.com got it here fast with just standard shipping (USPS).

I also would like to know if there are tri suits out there that are better for long torsos. I have a suit up in my closet that isn't anywhere near fitting. I'll have to go check what brand it is, but if I were a 6' instead of 6'3" then I'd be all set. I also have a 34" inseam. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know. I used a two piece last year and the shirt kept riding up on me.
