I need a suggestion for a fall or winter HIM.  I was planning to do B2B, but today my work schedule changed when they scheduled the biggest fundraiser of the year for my museum for October 19.  I'd still like to get one in.  Any suggestions for other in the fall or winter in the carolinas, VA, TN, WV area.  don't want to travel too far.

Take a look at www.Trifind.com then go to the respective state forums to get some race feedback

There is the Patriots half in Fredricksburg, VA in Sept. There is also Rev3 Anderson in Anderson, SC in late Sept/early Oct. and of course Augusta 70.3 at the end of sept as well. There could be more but this is off the top of my head

Rev3 has a very good reputation; the race last year got good reviews.; and the lake and surrounding area are beautiful.  I'd definitely seriously consider it.

checked out the anderson event--have to work that weekend too.  so far the williamsburg event looks pretty good, but it gives me a month less training.  Augusta looks good too--still waitin to see if anything else crops up that I may have missed in my search.

as an asside, man, they tax your for the mdot--it's like $100 more than the Va event or B2B.  I was kind of holding out for the mdot as my first full, but maybe i'll do B2B for the full in 13.

go to the top of this page and look for a big icon with the word "races" and a picture of a guy with number 8 on his chest breaking the ribbon.

if you click you will find you can search for races by date, length, state etc...then there will be ratings for each  race.

obc ironman augusta is the correct choice Wink

Savageman in mid-Sept, in Western Maryland near where West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania come together. I've done a fair number of HIM's, but this one is, by far, the best experience I've had (I was a little sick on race day and had a poor race but still think it's the best). The course is spectacluar--in a kick-your-butt, take-no-prisoners sort of way!
